Nah, I got sniped. That's ok, something else will pop up hopefully locally. I might sell a bunch of shit now so I can move into a position where I'm not panic selling after the point.
Dude, that's why I love records. I used to do that as well, you know, music is art, it should be accompanied by as many different modes and mediums as possible to convey what the artist is trying to communicate with it and being immersed in an aesthetic or experience just intensifies that.
And yes, good music is like tits.

Sounds intense pelliott.

Yeah thankfully we could all bust out laughing, since it was nothing so major, but man. I'm still on an adrenaline high.

Yeah, we are trying to expand on that with this band. Matt, the other guitarist is an amazing artist and is doing a bunch of stuff to go along with our music. He sold a bunch of different prints at our show. We also want to to an art show where everything ties in with our lyrics. Big plans, especially for a small new band but I think we can pull it off. Hopefully we can try to kick start that in other bands around our area too. Seems like they all subscribe to the sharpie on a Maxwell thing.

Yeah man, I'll bet.

Yeah conk, that sounds pretty similar to how I view music. That whole making an all-enveloping, immersive environment can really help songs come to life. And to just be able to go balls out with a concept would be killer.
PROG-gasm!!

I don't suppose you have any recommendations for Europe or British beers? It might cost a lot to import American ones, and I would have no idea where to start. I have no preferences as to types of beer that I like. I'm just experimenting at this early stage in the game.

BG Pups are really popular and very affordable for a handmade pickup. They offer a humbucker-sized P90. I have a few others saved, like D Allen, Lollar, Fralin and Harmonic Design who all offer P90s in a humbucker housing.
Cheers Dan. I've realised since that the SG routing can take a regular P90 so that opens up more options. Few friends have bought Jess Luoeiro pups with really good results so tempted to just get one of his regular p90s for the SG and perhaps a GFS Mean90 for my Les Paul copy. Still tempted by a BKP Mississippi Queen as that's what my boys in Slomatics use and we all know how great they sound.

http://www.jlguitars.com/ if you want to check out Jess's pups and super low prices.

Now more importantly lets talk BEER, in Ireland we have a couple of really good breweries. Trouble Brewing in Kildare and Metalman out of Waterford are the ones I know best along with Williams Bros from Scotland. Brewdog stuff is also good. Tesco can be good for some beers if you don't have a decent selection in any of your local offies. Also O'Haras do some nice beers and they bottle a slightly lesser (and cheaper) version of their beers for Aldi under some other name but it's obvious what they are. I'm lucky that I live near a really good off license with huge selection of great beers and also a craft beer and amazing food pub. Sierra Nevada and a few Chicago breweries are imported into Ireland and sold in Tesco as are Cooopers from Australia that do a great beer.

I mean, you spend all that time writing songs, recording and making your music try to sound its best so why not make the packaging represent as well. I take a lot of pride in it and most of the time feel guilty for charging what everyone else does for their shitty looking demo. I want you to get your money's worth, especially in this age of digital downloads and whatnot. When I first got into music, when I got a new tape or cd and put it on and stared at the artwork, reading all of the lyrics, thank yous and everything... looking at the group or live shots just imagining how awesome they were live was the absolute best feeling. It was like touching my first boob in 7th grade. I just want to always make sure that my music is packaged in a way that someone somewhere is getting that feeling passed down to them.
When I used to receive a CD in the mail or pick it up from a store, I'd be over the moon with joy. I'd spend a few hours listening and replaying, trying to understand and learn the lyrics. It was always fun squinting to see the fine print and what gear the band used. But that disappeared when I bought studio monitors for my PC and my disc drive broke. I couldn't face listening to a record on a crappy CD player any more when I had a proper amplifier and high quality monitors. I also have professional (but affordable) in-ear headphones and an audiophile mp3 player. It's basically made CD's redundant. I miss them though. Now I just bandcamp music, or torrent it if I cannot download legally. Until Amazon sell mp3's to Ireland I'm basically limited to torrent sites and then buying the CD afterwards just to add to the collection, or bandcamping.

Duvel, a Belgian brewery, is weepworthy. It's a Belgian golden strong ale. I think it's 9% alc by volume? It's one of the damn finest beers you'll find. Basically any Belgian beer.

It's been a while since I've had it, but Punk IPA by Brewdog (from Scotland) is very good, and they make several other beers that have a really good reputation, including a kick-ass Imperial IPA called Hardcore IPA. I mean, with names like those, how bad can they be?

Also, Delirium Tremens. Trust me.
Thanks, mate! I'll look those up and probably order a few.

I had a Mississipi Queen in the neck position of a guitar once. It was sexual. It was the warmest, chunkiest tone I'd ever had. It was like playing the guitar in the most natural, earthy, woody kind of way, without any electronics; as if the wood amplified itself. Awesome pickup. You can get it in a P90 housing as well.

Also, thanks for the beer tips! I've tried a few from Tesco when they had that offer going for five for a tenner or whatever it was. I really want to try a chocolate infused beer one day! I'll check them out all.

A tip: A lot of brewstyles keep well with age or get even better, like stouts, but when it comes to pale ales and IPAs it's often very important to check the freshness, as over time hop aroma and flavor will diminish and you'll be left with a very different (often still quite good) beer that isn't what was intended.

I got a pair of Jess Luoeiro pickups last year...he is a great guy to deal with and his picks ups are really good, especially given how cheap they are.

As far as beers go...i recently tried out Blue Moon - which i think is from san francisco...that i now my beer of choice. Also if you find it, a slice of orange with it really adds to the flavour...or just straight, taste good either way.

So I found this amp the other day that I thought looked cool. It sparked the idea of switching from a Tolex Dunwich amp to a painted one. What do you folks think? Black or red tolex, or stained?

I'm 50/50. Tolex is cool but is shit when it gets torn up too much. Stains are cheaper and easier to DIY, but also don't look so hot when scuffed up. Occupational hazards I guess.

Just finished one of my exams. One more to do and I'm a free man...for a while.

some tolex is incredibly rugged. some cabs it seems like you can just throw them all over the place and slide them in and out of vans with reckless abandon and they get no more than a few nicks here and there. others get fucking shredded so easily. i don't know how to do it so you get the former, but i'd take that over stain any day.
