I was gonna ask this, too...
how long did the other limited editions last?
how many of those were made?

"a person who displays or exaggerates their discomfort or distress in order to obtain sympathy or admiration."

This is literally exactly what Korte is doing

omg I'm so upset that I made 400k in an hour and now people are reselling the pedal fuck I'm so morally outraged. i can't even, ya'll. Gotta just tap out for awhile, it's all too much that people resold the pedal I just made 400k from in an hour

The thing is, no one is even coming at Korte. There are like 3 comments expressing mild annoyance, and then a flood of comments like this: "Joel - you have my full support and compassion - please don't let a vocal minority of a few dissenters upset you - you can't please everyone all of the time. The vast majority of us proper Chase Bliss fans fully have your back! Onwards and upwards!"

They're acting like he's the target of this huge hate group or something, rather than aforementioned 3 posts expressing mild annoyance.

Sentient Twig wrote:For Korte to now be like "gee golly didn't realize they would go so fast!" and clutching his pearls seems a bit disingenuous. He moved massive product quickly, and I'm betting he knew exactly what he was doing. He's running a business, after all.
In my dealings with Joel over the past 5+ years, he's been consistently genuine and modest. He really is still in the I-can't-believe-I-get-to-do-this-for-a-living phase. The nerdy humility is not just a schtick. Sure, for several of us, we could've accurately predicted that this would be a fast seller. For designers who are still humbled by the feedback they get from fellow musicians, it's still a pinch-me moment when a project comes together. If people are going to start depreciating individuals like Joel, then that spells doom for all of humanity.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think:
Gen Loss was 100.
Ayahuasca was super limited at first (in the tens) then had a run of 100 that sold out in less than 10 minutes.
Not sure how many Black MOOD's were made for Black Friday (I think either 100 or 200) but they sold out before he could make a post that they were available that morning.

That would be an INSTANT buy for me.

I'd also agree with this. He's one of the least douchey people in the pedal industry IMO.

I don't feel bad for the guy who made 400k in an hour and then had to suffer as people (who probably make considerably less than him for a living) resold that pedal and then expressed mild annoyance at his going back on his word of doing a limited run, but I do kind of feel bad for the people being called immoral for reselling the pedal they own at a price people are willing to pay.

Between production costs, ZVex split, fees, he might have only made $75k in that hour!

You're right. No wonder he's rage-quitting social media!

Cooper x CBA Generation Loss = 1,000 units

Ayahuasca was done in multiple batches of 10 (starting in 2017). My inbox shows 6 emails (4 x 10, then the next two batches involving the application and screening process handled by the guy behind Abracadabra/Best Guitar Effects). There were acid-etched and hand-painted editions. The final run was a silk-screened batch of 100 (August 2020). Unless I deleted an email, then there's approximately 163 out there (3 additional units were supplied in a giveaway).

All the BF pedals produced for Reverb were done in batches of 100, except for the Spaceman Polaris (batch of 50).

On the Chase Bliss site it has a batch history and it say 200 Ayahuascas were built. He also didsmall batches of that acid etched Mood for CME (25?)and those JOAL Moods (10) that sold to mostly people on reddit.

I was just about to post this pic from active listings.

Image

There were acid-etched batches produced in 2015 as well. (10) Wombtones for PGS, (10) Warped Vinyl MKIIs for CME, and (10) Gravitas pedals for CME

The reported count for the acid MOODs (CME) shows 25, and that was a huge hassle. CME wouldn't put them online. You had to get in chat and make your request. It took like 30 minutes to check out.

I think the intention for all of those was to put something cool in people's hands. ...and obviously to appease dealers who wanted something they could sell quickly. Special batches are a PITA for builders. If anyone wants to be outraged over artificial hype and inflated prices for limited editions, then they should be bitching about Spaceman. Asking people to pay an extra $100 for boring colors like flat grey is so fucking ridiculous.
