I found this forum through Forever Doomed and this seems like a very nice place. I'm Mikko. I'm 22 years old (as of this day actually) and live in Helsinki, Finland. I like sleazy old horror films, skateboarding, tattoos, coffee and heavy and/or original music. I play guitar in a stoner/sludge/drone band in the vein of Melvins, Acid King, Cavity, Floor, Earth etc. called Lieutenant General Sir Manley Power (

Always happy to welcome forever doomed peeps........

We'll get along well.
I'm in the same situation band-wise (I keep trying, though). And I constantly watch tree lines for things I haven't seen before (I'm near the original bigfoot sightings).
Oh, and don't worry about it seeming like a tight community, it is, but I've only been here for, like, two weeks and it feels like home here now.

Hello, I'm Craig. I'm a 27 year old musician turned filmmaker who also makes signs for a grocery store to pay rent/buy things I need. I write the soundtracks for my films and other people's films using guitar as my primary tool for composition and whatnot. I've been playing guitar for 13 years, I'm no virtuoso but I do what I can. Pedals play a big part in sculpting a sound, especially fuzz. Never cease to be amazed what weird sounds and tones you can get from a fuzz pedal. I'm always on the lookout for new pedals and knowledge about them, so that's why I'm here!

My name is Will, and I used to be a janitor at a college, and sometimes at my job I would find chalkboards with math equations on them, and I would do them. But then I got caught one time so I ran off, and my best friend is Ben Affleck. Oh and I know Robin Williams, but he has a beard.

Hey, I'm Hassan, a white child of spiritual hippiefolk born in 1969. Found out about ILF through Harmony Central FX and resisted coming over for a while, I guess because it kind of seemed like a cool kids' clubhouse from the outside at first, but I lurked enough to realize that was wrong. The superior taste in music and gear here is refreshing, and the buy/sell/trade section is what finally made me cave. I've been doing the solo bedroom/internet release thing since 2003, and been in a couple issues of Metal Maniacs and the final issue of Bad Acid. My musical influences are Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, Venetian Snares, Atomhead and Slayer, to name a few of the big ones. I love doom, space rock, death metal, old thrash, ambient/industrial/noisescapes, hypertechnical electronic stuff, breakcore, gabber, dark d&b, anything instrumental. I play guitar, bass, synths, drum machines and tons of pedals, but the computer is the only instrument I'm really good at.

Welcome to the cool kids, Hassan!

With that list of influences & interests, it sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here.

I play lap steel mostly due to carpel tunnel developed from playing with heavy strings for too long with bad technique quite a few years ago...two cortisone shots, physio, electro therapy...I tried it all. I was going nowhere and I actually gave up sold my gear (lp and vox ac30) playing music for 6 years....But one of my buddies was a drummer and after jamming a bit I was inspired to try again...I could feel it coming back, even with a super playable Jagmaster I bought for my comeback. So I decide to play on my lap....way easier on the hands. Even with the limited chord options, I can still get really creative with open tunings and slide techniques...I can play for hours without any consequences... Glad tobe back making serious noise!

Glad to have you back.
I've had problems with carpal tunnel before. The more neutral hand position of playing lap steel definitely does help.
I've had good results with massage therapy, acupuncture and the Alexander Technique.
