OTOH Chris Carter and company are releasing their own Euro Gristleizer later this year (which, afaik, is what the controversy was about, essentially.)

Yeah, I remember that. I'm waiting for Chris Charter's version. Not sure I need it thoughD.o.S. wrote:OTOH Chris Carter and company are releasing their own Euro Gristleizer later this year (which, afaik, is what the controversy was about, essentially.)

It's actually one of the best effects ever, so you probably do.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I understand that there is such a deep rabbit hole one could go down, and one could easily find a million different ways to start. So far I have only picked up the Mother 32 as a second monosynth. There are a dozen things on the plate before I expand eurorack (machinedrum, pyramid or a carbon or a rm1x, blofeld or micro q, bigger mixer, midiverb ii, bills, head tattoos, the list goes on). Still, even just the Moog is a fun little box, and I have weird ideas how I want to expand in the future, like odd sound sources input as its second oscillator, etc. A m32 felt like a great entry point for me, it might not for others.jwar wrote:God I wish I was smart enough to get into this shit.
I so want to do modular. I'm really leaning towards Moog to start out, but is there an easier route? I just want something that's not going to be impossible for me to learn.

So I pulled the trigger: sold the Rubicon and Ripples and have a Dixie II+ and SVF201 on the way. I still have some extra cash that I will put towards either a Dunst or Denum to replace the Fourses that I sold.

I think I'd be happy with a Mother 32 as well at this point.psychic vampire. wrote:I understand that there is such a deep rabbit hole one could go down, and one could easily find a million different ways to start. I also have a shit ton of other things on my plate before I could even toy with the idea of modular. One being I'd have to stop buying so many pedals! hahahaha

Oh man, that Koma is gorgeous...looks like Warps' evil twin. I would have kept the Ripples too though.MrNovember wrote:So I pulled the trigger: sold the Rubicon and Ripples and have a Dixie II+ and SVF201 on the way. Once again Muffs BST is trying hard to snatch up all my savings...but I am adamantly waiting for new stuff to drop. Seems like whenever something new and awesome is around the corner, that's when everybody posts up the crazy deals and obscene temptations. Right now it's Rainmaker mass hysteria. Hoping to have mine before next weekend...

Yeah in a perfect world I would have kept the Ripples, it's so smooth and liquidy. It was also one of my first modules. I may end up getting one again in the future. Or something like it at least. It depends how much overlap I feel between my Wasp and the SVF201. I am really excited for the SVF, though. From the demos it sounds perfect for me and, I can't lie, that backlit knob was a pretty big selling feature for me.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I'm kinda thinking I should start building a modular system. I really like the idea of being able to create my own landscape, both visually and audibly. So, I really like the idea of building a modular with both audio and visual synthesis. Is anyone here into visual synthesis? I kinda want to build this system because I could have two voices and have a little 16-bit world that I create and control with the sounds I'm making:

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I want to get into video synthesis so badly, but I have to set a limit somewhere. I'll probably pick up a Critter and Guitari Video Scope at some point because it's a pretty reasonable price. Although, it's quite limited. If I could find the cash I'd pick up a Gieskes 3trinsrgb+1c. But really, I need to set a limit somewherewfs1234 wrote:I'm kinda thinking I should start building a modular system. Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Video syntheis is THE reason i want to get into modular. There are a lot of all-in-one synths have the features set I need, but none of them have the potential to let me do visual synthesis! The World Core synth module creates an 8-bit video game world whose color, sprites, existence and everything can be modulated with standard cv input. You don't have to go through that conversion malarkey to do it.MrNovember wrote:I want to get into video synthesis so badly, but I have to set a limit somewhere. There's also this module that looks REALLY cool for video synthesis:

I was damn near over my modular jones until I saw the ISMS. Shoot holes in my theory...
