Starthief wrote:2019 was crazy for me where it came to my modular rig... I sold and bought something like $10K of stuff (it balanced out pretty well) and rethought my whole philosophy something like 3 times.
I'm really happy with where that landed though, so in 2020 I plan to make only minor changes to my synth gear... but I've got my eye on pedals now.
Right now I'm down to two: Tensor and Arquitecto. I'm thinking about Particle, Dweller, maybe a Freqout to see how it deals with synths. I'm really tempted by Meet Maude and/or a couple of other delays (like... 6 of them, I'm kind of a delay junkie

). And I really like the demos of Slö I've heard...
So there are gonna be several battles in 2020 of temptation vs. reminding myself I already have a lot of good delays/reverbs in Eurorack and software.
Welcome to the forum! Great second post! Keeping it transparent with the goalz.

I hardly bought anything in 2019; my focus was on camping gear and replacing my wardrobe, which i had to do since i'd lost 45 lbs. did i buy anything other than the Gretsch Special Jet? oh, yeah, a Velcroscillator.
number 1 priority for 2020 is a Jazzmaster, most likely a Squier CV. i'd also like to get one of the new Squier Mustang Bass reissues, and a Keeley Loomer. other than that, i need to get my 3 dysfunctional amps fixed (the AC15 is the only one in working order) and get a couple of 1x12 cabinets to load with the Eminence JBL D clone a friend gifted me and a Hiwatt clone. i'm pretty much sorted for guitars, but may try to buy back the Blueridge slope-shoulder J-45 style acoustic i sold to a friend in 2013. and i want a pickup for my acoustic 12er so i can use it as an electric 12 as well.

I should do that, too. But I’ll be embarrassed that my 12-string technique has gone to shit in the last 20 years.

I'll probably only be using it for chords and textures. not to say that my poor technique won't be obvious anyway. my hands are really too small for the wide fingerboard.

My wife recently talked me out of minimalism. So, now I’m going modular

Not to go all TGP with the non-ironic-Borat “my wife” jokes, but are you sure you heard her right?

Yeah [borat voice] my wife is always complaining I don’t spend enough money on pedals....

It’s not like I’m going to doubletriplequadruple my gear budget. I’m just going to stop avoiding that massive, yawning pit that modular is.

i have assiduously avoided modular because the inevitable result would be a veritable Singularity of GAS.

Your love of cheap digitech would fill your house.

I spent the past 2 months or so (probably longer) getting my MIDI act together and now that I finally have everything talking and some basic stuff programmed so that I can play and also experiment and explore it's time to refine.
My main goal for 2020 is to master or take more advantage over the capabilities of what I am using. I want to build out all the presets that I can and set up my MIDI such that it is an extension of what I do as opposed to a container limiting me. I want to have my setup.programmed so that it is natural and logical and know it to the point that I can jump around w ease for any situation of crazy thought that pops in my head.
Here's where we are at today...
MIDI is Meris Ottobit Jr, Meris Hedra, Red Panda Particle, Red Panda Tensor, and Panda Audio Future Impact.
Most likely gonna swap out the moog LPF for an Iron Ether xerograph deluxe to open some space and then get more dirt in their...debating a MIDI controlled switcher for dirt mgmt.

Such a nice read on this fine morning. Thank you Sharky and Kate for perpetuating this tradition that I may have started or contributed to at some point?
My goals this year are:
- I don't need more stuff and I feel content with my gear so I'm probably not buying much like in 2019
- yes, your read that right
- no, I really don't need more fuzz

1) I really want a Prophet 6
2) Sell some stuff I'm not using - I haven't sold anything in the last 2 years
3) Continue to build out eurorack
4) Truthfully I use most of my gear in the most basic 'on the surface' ways, but it seems like stuff keeps getting deeper and deeper in terms of functionality- or I'm just getting old. I really want to get to expert(lol) level on some of it, or at least more proficient..examples Logic, Zoia, OPz, Blooper, Midi stuff in general
5) Get a mastery bridge for my Jazzmaster so that it will hopefully become less annoying to deal with/easier to play on the regular
6) Looking forward to Automotone
