cloudscapes wrote:drawback is that the white dust on some of the pics isnt there when dev houses do them because they have more expensive scanners that (with some infrared tricks) can get rid of them. I shouldnt expect that from a $100 scanner. in a few months I'll invest in a better one.
I think it adds to the lofi, analog film goodness! Though I can see it being annoying doing it all the time. Any other things you don't like about that negative scanner? I've been kind of out of the photo game for a while, but I always would shoot film, & have been wanting to get one of those.

oh I agree it can add, it's just that I'd like to the have the option to remove it.
I'm using the epson V300. it's cheap but it works. other than the dust, I get great results! way better than in-store scanning, because you can do it exactly the way yo uwant. color temperatures and all. I also use SilverFast AI software which does a ten times better job than the included stuff. it does multisampling (scanning several times then increasing detail by combining them) among other things.
I'll probably get the V500 which is "only" $100 more in a few months. it has the dust removal thing. still, the V300 for being an only $100 scanner is pretty impressive. all photos from my last two posts were done with it.

Saw some mention of Dianas on the previous page... I have a Diana F+, a few mates chipped in and got me one after i was going on about film and lomography for ages... got my first two films processed a week or so ago and some of the pictures came out really nicely but most of them were pantsss. I have a dell printer with a scanner bit ontop, if Scan the pictures in would the quality be okay? I just wanna show people now hahaha, There are a few I'm really proud of for someone like me who has no clue!
Some of the art and photography on this thread is absolutely exceptional

That's how it is for most lomography cameras, half of your shots turn out, the other half don't.
Are you going to be scanning the prints? or the negatives? Because you need a special scanner to do negatives, they need to be lit from both sides.
