Honestly I understand his frustration. He got upset about something in his thread and instead of just letting it go, people were ganging up on him, which is stupid. It happens all the time here. Was he right with what he said initially? No. Does that matter? No.
This whole board has taken a turn lately where it's ok to treat each other like complete and utter shit as long as enough people agree with you.

This thread for sure spiraled out of control and I don't get why. I just don't get it. Rape is something we all agree that's horrible. Sexual assault and other sex crimes we also can agree on.

It happened because this is controversial, and because the stakes are high. Also there’s the well-documented Internet phenomenon where bashing the shit out of people instead of engaging with them seems to reinforce some weird ass pathologies. I’ve never seen anyone’s mind changed because a dickbag on the internet while knighted someone into truth and justice. Nuance takes more effort than we can reasonably expect ON A GEAR FORUM. Treating people like metonymic stand-ins for ideas you disagree with is gross, inhumane, and ultimately pushes people further out. Sure, you can make the case that you’re combating the forces of illogic and evil, but using the same methods in a different direction. If it paid any dividends for anyone ever, that’d be great.
