My only issue is I'm recording stuff on cassette and I haven't figured out how to really transfer and mix it down to the computer yet. I can probably put some basic tracks down in the next two weeks but the computer side might be tricky. Worst case scenario, if I can't figure it out can I send my 4-track cassette recording to someone here to digitize it?
If that's the only way you can do it I can find a way to digitize it then master it. You could always take the tape recorders output to the 1/8 mic input on your comp and record it that way. the AD/DA conversion wouldn't be the best but it should definitely still be usable.

The best answer I can give right now is probably. There are roughly a lot more moving parts than I think anyone thought this was going to have, and we're still more than a month out from the initial deadline of submitting sonics. Not that we shouldn't think about these things, but IME these sort of projects are very easy to overload when you try to accumulate too much too fast.

on that note, pertinent reiterations:
resincum wrote: rules: no rules. no time restrictions, 30 minute fart drones welcome.

submissions: email resincum@gmail.com with ILF DRONE COMP or something like that as the subject. include your forum handle, the name you want on the track list and title. also, please send it as a .WAV
***if everyone submits a stereo .WAV recording with a -2 to -3dB peak it will make our lives much easier for mastering purposes***
if you can match your file name with your forum handle that would be rad :D
Ancient Astronaught wrote: The easiest way is to put a limiter plug in on your master track in your daw and set the thresh hold to -3db, then you reduce the input gain or the track volumes until you see it never or just every once in a while bounce off of it. If you reduced track volumes then you can remove the limiter plug in and be good to go, if you use the input gain in the plug in to reduce volume than leave it there but raise the threshold up to -2db without touching anything else. That way even if it peaks over a lil its not detrimental, and who ever is mastering will have tons of headroom.

If your using your phone theres no help for you unfortunately and we'll do the best we can with it.

I'd like to wrap things up in about a month from now.. if that's too soon, let me know!
so please submit sounds by 5/31/2015 :joy: :omg: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

I would love to run what I've done by someone. I like to bounce ideas off people. If anyone is willing to spend 10 min to listen to what I have as off yet it would be awesome. Except for my band, I ain't really friends with people who are interested in drone music

Drone goddess Sheila Chandra already had a similar sounding album name with "bone drone" in it. I think that should be avoided here if for no other reason than to be original.

I agree, for more reasons than stated, main one is I'm not big on 4th grader humor for music packaging...

'nothing short of total drone'.

plays on the title of the seminal and landmark 1989 blast first compilation 'nothing short of total war' but also has a cute bathetic twist in the tail, pairing the melodramatic build-up with an apparently monotonous pay-off. which i think is pretty now. the wonderful and frightening world of rock history condensed down over time into one infinite single pulse.
rock and roll through a black hole.

anyway i liked it so am throwing it out for consideration.

maybe too long. how about just '2015'. though it might date badly.

Perhaps I missed it in the thread above, but are you all looking for an exclusive track or would a favorite piece work just as well? I'm easy either way.
