doods. dooodettes. Under The Skin is so fucking good. yesh, full frontal ScarJo is MEOW. that's.... that's an attractive lady.

but it's an awesome movie. i knew nothing about it watching except INCIPIENT NUDITY, and that's perfect. try to learn nothing at all then VIEW.

.... it's like what David Lynch wants to do. like. you know. if he was GOOD.
Under the Skin is on my list to watch next
I just saw the Secret Life of Walter Mitty
There were parts I enjoyed and parts that were pretty dumb
Overall it was decent and I usually hate Ben Stiller

Yeah, I have it from good sources that that flick is the goods, naked Scarlet aside. It's on my list as well.

Need to check out Under The Skin, then. Sounds digable.

Any love for Kiyoshi Kurosawa (no relation) up in this joint? I don't think he makes the best movies or anything, but the mood in some of his flicks is beautiful. Like in Cure.

Watched this with my buddy tonight. Some good campy shit. The main actor plays a good "guy losing his mind" and there are some sweet monster suits in it.

I saw this a while ago, and though it does have a naked Scarlett Johansson in it, I'm not convinced it's better than a generic 50's sci-fi monster movie. Yeah, it's prettier and is edited better, but overall I think the story line and presentation requires the same amounts of dedication and suspension of disbelief to watch as any 50's sci-fi b-movie.

hurrrrrrm i can see the throwback'ness.

i dunno. i enjoyed it more than any new movie i've watched in a while. it had an angry sense of foreboding throughout, the surreal aspects were pitch perfect to the tone of the movie and not overdone.... i was just entranced and happy and concerned and involved the whole time.

but it's totally a In The Mood For movie. and mebbe i was just in the perfect frame of mind for it?

they share no content similarities, but what it totes reminded me of was the feeling of watching Enter The Void.

I was definitely compelled by it, and I loved Scarlett Johansson's acting. She did such a good job. And I fucking love it when movies have angry foreboding. It could be a very jarring movie if you weren't in the right mindset, but I went in expecting weird.

What bothers me I guess, it doesn't seem to add up to anything more than a well told story even though it feels like it should; like there should be an overarching point to it. So, if it's meaningless I can't really say it's any better than 50's sci-fi, prettier certainly, but no better. In the same way new blockbuster movies are just as bad as old ones.

i'm escited because it looks bad in all the good ways and i fucking LOVE Thom Hardy. Bronson? SO AWESOME.

wfs74629 - lol. it might be all nerdy art projection, but some times i enjoy a movie that feels like it's..... i dunno.... small aspiration ending? keeps the bleakness going. a Nothing Gets Cleanly Resolved feeling.

that's what i loved about how Llewellen (sp?) gets killed in No Country For Old Men. all the build up to a dramatic confrontation between him and Chigar then he gets anticlimatically done away with off-screen.

oh mer gerd Lucy was fucking AWFUL. like... just a shitstorm of boring WRONG movie making.

ugh.

it's like she used every ounce of acting ability in Under The Skin and needed a movie to be pure garbage in to recharge.

AND THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR CHARACTERS.
