Made some delicious food this evening! Spaghetti with an asparagus and scallop sauce.

I feel like it's kind of a shame to store and reheat things as nice and delicate as this but fuck it, my lunch tomorrow might be worse than it was for tea today but it'll be better than sandwiches or cafeteria food still.

Cooked a pizza from scratch for the first time ever tonight. Success! Dough recipe needs a little bit of work to be tastier I think but in general it worked pretty well. Nice new tasty trick in my arsenal.

Tonight the girlfriend and I are making steaks for my birthday dinner.
I'm super excited, there's nothing quite like a good steak.

We do them on the stove with salt, pepper, maybe some Tony Checherereydiouxsky's, lots of butter and lots of garlic.

When I was in first grade, we had a field trip.
We got to have a picnic at one part and had to bring our own lunch.
I decided the night before that I was going to make something brilliant:
A PB&J Burrito.

I carefully wrapped my concoction and placed it in my lunch bag in the fridge.

The next day, at our picnic, I pulled it out and took a bite.
The tortilla went stale over night in the fridge and also got soggy from the jelly.
It was awful, and, safe to say, I went hungry that field trip.
Never putting peanut butter and jelly on a tortilla again.

You got to cook it up fresh.

I've been into dry rubs for bbq for a while. lately I have found a couple of secret weapons.

Both are quite potent and just a bit added into your normal rub recipe goes a long way. the devil dust is a spicy flavorfull seasoning salt mix that I am addicted to. when cooking I sometimes dump a bit directly to my toung for instant flavor overload

The au jus French dip powder concentrate works great for French dip stuff, or as a beef flavor enhancer. It is definitely possible to use to much and I find its best to go easy on it so it adds just a little flavor.

Tonight I did a carne asada with both of the above added to a more normal recipe of lemon juice, avocado oil, a dab of sofrito (tomato based stock), cumin, turmeric, garlic and some port wine.
I coated the beef thouroghly in the mixture and then allowed it to sit for a bit while I got the grill fired up and some mex style rice and beans going.
Mix of charcoal and cherry in the bbq.
When the rice was about 10 minutes to done I threw it on the grill at about 300 degrees. poured what was left of the marinade on it when starting, saving a bit or when I flipped the meat.

very delish. Both the wife and I over ate. She surprised me by going back for seconds and pretty much polishing it off. I'd planned on having leftovers for tomorrow but I guess we'll be eating something fresh :thumb:

Gonna be making some hot sauce out of the chili powder we got from Mike tonight. Starting with the Spicy Mustard Habanero. I'll be back with pics. :flame: :animal:

I like using a little brown sugar with mustardy sauces.

Where I grew up didn't have fast food or a movie theatre or a hospital, but we did have this:

Priorities straight.

And the best comes from Portland!

I mean, different sauces are better for different foods, but I eat this every day and gladly pay the $14 shipping to get it sent across the country to me.

Bumping this thread, I like seeing what people make.

I have a ham in the oven right now.
I'm going to glaze it with this:
-1 cup honey
-1/4 cup brown sugar
-1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
-4 tablespoons of butter

I'm suuuuuper excited.
I bought it on impulse because they were selling the ham for $0.89 / lb.
