i expect that anyone who has a visible public presence is self-invented to an extent, is all i'm saying. the only prominent demoist who appears in their demos who doesn't seem like a character is Just Nick, and i'd bet even he does several takes of a demo to get it so he likes the way he looks and the sound of his speaking voice.

Well, Nick's an artist.
I think Burgs used to be a little more off the cuff, but, as much as I still love him, he's turned into a bit of a slick pitchman.
Pretty sure excane's "demo character" is true to life.

i miss Burgs' little daughter...she really brightened things up. i guess she grew up enough that it didn't work to have her in the videos, and/or that PGS wanted a more canned presentation when he became their second-string demoist. i can't help it...i love little kids. they make me smile because they remind me of when i was little and funny and free.

Weird, I thought the issue was that she covered her cooter with the boxes and then never showed herself playing. I only watched one of the videos but I recall the original hubbub being that nobody was convinced she actually had anything to do with it all (aside from selling... something... to old hairy men), since you only saw her obnoxious kitten heels in the live footage. for the record, I never cared... the internet is the internet, what does one expect, just sayin. Did it turn out she is actually a real guitarist?

Yeah, apparently she's a real guitarist.
I originally didn't think she was the person playing in the demos either. It was all in the way it was presented.
I don't care either. If people wanna like her, they can like her. If people don't wanna like her, they don't have to like her.

Fine, I'll bite.
What the hell is controversial about her making a indiegogo thing? I know why people are against as a whole, as it's been stated earlier...but why is it controversial for her to do this?

because apparently anything FBG does is "controversial." i don't remember anyone ever complaning that you couldn't see GearManDude playing or about HIS obnoxious shoes--even though FBG and GMD have done coop demo videos--or that the folks who do the (often excellent) Jet City demos are never seen on camera. i'm not really a feminist any more, because the focus of that movement has gone from equality to advantaging women and derogating men, but i still know sexism when i see it. "she's a GIRRRRRRRRL...no way could she be able to play."

Well, if gearmandude was a hairless porn star named Bjorn Hardwood, and was never shown playing guitar and only shown hitting buttons with his cock, you might see people voicing their doubts, as well. GMD, his guitar playing is good, I don't like his demos personally, but I'll tell you what -- with that voice, that level of camera work, that taste in shoes, that whole clearly-a-future-episode-of-a-hoarding-reality-show-air-of-mad-collectordom...i think everybody watching is just praying he can play like an angel, because he sure doesn't have much else going for him, right? He's a pretty sad character without his guitar chops. It's really not comparable.

well, you're entitled to your opinion.

I thought the only reason people watched GMD was to figure out whether he really is or isn't Jack Black
Also, why would anyone here even bother getting hung up about FBG when we can all just watch Kayzer and Just Nick and all the awesome ILF dudes who do demos!

Andy reminds me of Paul Shugrue for some reason.

I take it you aren't familiar with or simply dislike Analogman?
