only one i've read is 'ghost world' by daniel clowes, which is actually hilarious. i think i tried art school confidential but never finished it.
the film was pretty good so i decided to try the graphic novel on which it is based, but since reading the novel i think i like the novel a lot more. at least as much, if not more, in a different way. i can go back to the novel again and again whereas after a few times you don't get any more out of going back to the film.
there's also a lot more depth and backstory texture to the novel. and lots more random bits (like 'doug' in the sidewinder in the film) that obviously there wasn't time for in the film but really help to fill out the mood. like when they keep walking past the discarded pants in the street. perfectly poised irrelevant details like that. some of the best stuff in the film is just random crap, largely unrelated to the plot but absolutely essential to fleshing out time and place and character. the art school tutor is another example of that. and the credits at the end of her film completely undermine her... 'the federation for the advancement of mature women in the arts', etc. perfect. there's tons more of that in the novel.
if you haven't see the film watch it. and if you like the film you will like the graphic novel as much if not more.

I picked up the Trees trade, too. Seems like first-rate Ellis.

Trees is great. I would also like to back Sex Criminals, Ms. Marvel and Think Tank.

Yeah, Ms. Marvel is cool in that classic Marvel way of rooting superheroics in real-world, human characters. Obviously trying to diversify into muslim family life but it works.

Read Ms Marvel last night. I couldn't get into it. It just felt like the stuff with her family and religion was just constantly bashing you in the face, instead of being really woven into the story.

I just finished Revolver (Matt Kindt). It's a nice stand alone story for fans of ummm fight club meets the matrix?

I like some of Jason Aaron's Marvel stuff and I've considered Southern Bastards. Is it funny? Does it have a heart? Or is just relentlessly awful?

I enjoyed it. If I had to sum it up, I'd say it's something like:
Small Southern town + Football + Clint Eastwood from Gran Torino

What's everyone's top 10?
Mine are maybe these. I feel like I am forgetting some that should be on the list, but most of my books are in storage so I can't look at them to remind myself what I have read.
Transmetropolitan
Swamp Thing
The Sandman
Miracleman
Spaceman
Starman
Ex Machina
Planetary
The Eternals
Watchmen

Top 10
Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind (Best comic ever written anywhere)
Transmetropolitan
X-Force (Liefeld 1990s cause that's what I read as a kid...terrible looking back at it)
Hellboy/Lobster Johnson/BRPD <--could probably just fill out my top ten with these actually
Madman
Battle Angel Alita (because I followed it for 20 damn years...even though it sucked in Last Order)
Crecy/Apparat (only the detective one though)
Batman: Year 100 (Love Pope, not a fan of Batman though which is weird)/Battling Boy
That's all I can think of at the moment
Neat Stuff that I wouldn't put in my top ten:
Prophet (new reboot)
King City
Fear Agent
Old City Blues
Desolation Jones
Planetary
Stuff I thought was overrated (and I know people will hate me for)
Y the Last Man (it was ok, but not all that great, I guess it kept my attention)
Saga (didn't like it at all)
Ex Machina
DMZ
Stuff that pissed me off that I spent time on it:
Wasteland
DMZ (but I kept reading it because I bought them all at once like an idiot)
This one comic written by Guy Ritchie
Dawn
Steampunk (Baccalo)
Year Zero
I don't even know anymore. They are scattered all over in boxes because I have no bookshelves
