Yeah I definitely feel vulnerable when wearing non-shoe / non-boot attire.
But I wear Birkenstocks all god damn summer long because my desire to not swelter in 105 degree heat far surpasses my keen sense of personal safety.

yeah, i guess here in central europe even during the hottest summer is quite ok to wear some light shoes
