Yeah I was looking at those last night and drooling. Looks like great build quality , big iron and great clean amp sound. I'm hoping I can talk the guy down a teeny bit but might just snag it regardless.
HA!! No worries- thought maybe it was Tony Reed's. Good luck- hope it works out.

Preacher is supposed to be very good. I used to be into comics big time as a kid, but that got pushed aside for other hobbies. I sometimes think about getting back into it - less for the collecting and more for the good graphic novels. Never read Sandman or Preacher - those would be top priorities.
louderthangod wrote:Yeah, that plus another thread about some guy playing in a mega-church...so much for the whole camel walking through the eye of a needle thing.
I was thinking about this while walking my dog. What makes Praise and Worship a different genre from Gospel. Is it just that that young white christians are too scared to have their music associated with black people so they had to create a new genre? I went to catholic school as a kid (I know, the born agains think that's some whole other plane of devil worship) but we had to listen to Amy Grant and other bullshit and they still called it Gospel.
That's an interesting question. I think that since most contemporary 'praise' music is so generic, bland, and awful they needed a new word for it. Hymns and Gospel music are beautiful and I would hate for P&W to tarnish the good stuff
So I've been cured of the Sunn gas. My wife's sister is in town and while they were hanging out last night I played guitar for a while and decided that it would be literally impossible to keep the Sunn at a respectful volume - which got me thinking about
managing volume with the baby in the house. So yeah. No big loud ass vintage amps for me, for a while at least. The good news is that my little rig still sounds supremely badass.
And now that the Sunn gas is gone, I have some heavy duty gas for a Les Paul Junior. Would that be really redundant since I have a SG Classic already?
Up until recently I had a half (sometimes full) stack as my bedroom amp. My equipment room is right next to Merrick's/ I'd play at lower volumes when he was home and it always sounded ok. I'd crank it too but he'd always wear ear muffs when he came back where I would be. He loved it. He'd get on my electric kit and jam with me or get down by my board and twist knobs while I played. I say get the Sunn and a pair of ear muffs for the kid.

New Dynacomp day! I traded an EMG 81 / 85 set for a brand new Dynacomp. It sounds pretty good through my little Orange Crush but I can't wait to get to practice tonight and run it through my full setup.

I'd do it if I wasn't on the East Coast and all.

Yeah, 6pm. I've put a couple of feelers out to some other bands and that NW Band/Venue exchange group on FB. We'll see what happens.

Hmmmm....maybe I will try and shoot down there to try it out after all.
And as usual, your board is incredibly snazzy.

I've never been able to find a use for a compressor and I keep trying every couple of years. I love compression when mixing but the only thing I could ever get out of compressor that sounded at all appropriate was that choppy funk sound but that wasn't what I was really looking for. I always end up killing my attack and while I'm looking to balance out my sound I can't lose attack. I've found that cranking those power tubes provides a much more natural compression that just works better for me. Other people seem to get it to work for them though so maybe I'm just missing something.

Man, I haven't seen my dynacomp since I lent it to my brother. He asked me yesterday if he'd given it back to me...that doesn't bode well.
Anyway, I'm gonna be jamming with him now. He's got a mate that plays bass who may/may not be interested, but we're both keen, so I'm trying to school him on as much Om/Eagle Twin/Black Cobra action as I can. Hopefully he gets it. Oh yeah, and Beast in the Field. I am loving that shit. I can't believe they've been around that long and I haven't cottoned on before...then again, I am a space cadet when it comes to new shit.
Too much to catch up on, so I'm just gonna say, the wait for my Blaster is becoming excruciating. It will probably be here early next week, but I just can't wait that long. So, I went back in time and checked the date that D posted it and watched his QC video again, and I noticed this time that he had titled the vid, "Pope Blasting". That me laugh and smile a whole lot.
Thanks, Daz!
I've had a shitty week, that made my day.
Also, SIMMS-WATTS-PORNOGRAPHY!!!!
I want a new amp....

Damn my broke ass. All this talk of titans made me suss out their website. The custom 100 is very reasonably priced...and pretty much exactly want I want, SLO pre (approx) with kt88s.
Sigh...

It'll be worth the wait. I went from sometimes AB, to mostly AB to always on AB. I'll be really surprised if you don't like it. I put mine between the pharoah and oath and it add som much definition without loosing any of what those pedals do. It's also awesome as a standalone which is how D uses it.
On to the SIMMS-WATTS-PORNOGRAPHY!!!!
Not my pics but it is now my amp

I was amazed at how clean it is, looks like new aside from a few minor spots. I do wish I had the faceplate, maybe I could get one made?
I probably spent to much on it but my negotiation skills went to shit when I started trying it out.
