My buddy got a Dynacomp on the cheap and I'm trying to get him to trade it to me for a set of EMGs. I doubt I'd run it on my board, but I do wanna fuck around with a comp again.

For a simple comp I've seen alot of rave reviews about the dynacomp, if he's willing I'd totally do that.

Seriously dude, words can't express my gratefulness for everything you did.

The pickups were not even attached though  They were just sitting in the cavities, the screws were too narrow and there were no springs in there. Luckily I have springs and screws that worked, but I only had three  But I got it up and running! It's a heavy beast and sounds just as heavy as it weighs. The sustain blows my tele out of the water and the neck is amazing, its just the right thickness and a perfect width, plus its so beefy that even with thicker strings I didn't have to touch the truss rod hahaha

New shirt design. We're trying to figure out what color we want them on though. I like the idea of a lighter brown shirt with black ink, but heather grey would be cool too. What do you guys think would be cool for shirts?

I had a Dyna Comp for a while. Classic Earth cleans man. I noticed it gets squishy pretty fast, not sure if that's your thing. I seem to be more of an optical compressor guy, a little less squish. But it's such a tomato tomAto type thing, compression!

If you can find anything on the VA/ MD / DC just let me know bro! Good luck though hahahaha

Actually the pots were good, the only thing that needed touching up was the ground on the jack which was simple enough. Was interesting to find out that they used alpha pots. :idk: The fretboard did look untouched, you can tell he barely played it and it just around for years. I actually really like the fretboard and I'm not usually a rosewood guy, but the inlay work and everything is spot on, you can't feel any edges and its all level. I'm really pleased for the price. The only real construction issue I saw is that the bridge is mounted a lil too high so the low string almost falls off the fretboard at the upper frets and the high string has an abundance of room. But since I never play the low string the far up the neck is not really an issue and the extra room on the high string gives me more room for bends.

i hand tightened all of the pots and jack
not too much
just so they didnt rattle off in shipping
the were so loosey goosey
honestly i thought i wouldnt be able to get my mitts
around a 7 string neck
but it wasnt that bad
i could definately get used to playin somethin like that
and that action holy smokes
compared to my samick forget it
last night i was jammin this 0pen-13th fret thing
im wonderin why i keep missing the first 13thfret pluck
i was movin the string away from the pick too much
and i dont pick lightly
so im kinda deeep into the strings
its just i cant get my action any lower
its better than it was
i gotta go get a setup
see if someone can help me out

Yeah man the neck is pretty easy to manage and the action is pretty good for the strings I'm using. I was surprised.

Dude it def sounds like you need a setup with a truss rod adjustment, its probably bowed into a V shape from what your describing.

So I've been looking at stock pics of these dearmond's and I've come to realize that these aren't the stock pickups in this guitar! The stock pickups have regular screw type bobbins on one side and mine has hex bobbins where those should be. :idk: I'll post comparison pics later.

*edit* they appear to be ibanez v8 + v7 pickups or some variation there of. Which would explain why I could tell somebody had been in there before.

when i first got it it was like a half inch at 12
now its below a quarter
everything i learned about truss rods
is from the internet
pictures only get you so far
also its the only guitar ive spent alot of time with
in over 10 years
and back then i didnt even tune
i just went by ballpark tension
it was kinda my thing....so stupid
so anyway the teisco pickups contribute to some buzzing
especially with the not even slinkys
but i filed it down some more
im sure theres a bridge/saddle/truss rod combo
that will work and get me lower
but i think its at the point where its fine tuning
im used to manhandling screws
so 1/16ths of a turn of anything is against my nature
too high...BURY THAT FUCKER
too low...BACK IT THE FUCK OUT
maype i should stop using my impact driver

 that might be a good idea. 1/4 turns are good, it's really more simple than most folks build it up to be. A straight edge is the only tool I use when messing with my stuff aside from allen wrenches and screwdrivers. Learning to do fretwork is a bit more of a thing and the right tools really help there, but 95% of the time fret work isn't needed.

I need to set up my Tele for these heavier strings. The action is super high and I still get some buzzing. The neck looks straight just by eyeballing it, but I'm kinda scared to fuck with it. Any tips? I wanna get the action as low as I can.
