It used to be my empress compressor, but then one day I turned it off by accident really liked what I heard. Since then I have tried to be more careful about just leaving shit on all the time on my guitar board, even though my warped vinyl mkII is quickly becoming a permanent fixture.
I got a strymon deco at a good price two months ago and was about to flip it until I ran my Octatrack through it. Now it's always on, and always will be. I personally think that pedal sucks ass for guitar, but it does wonders for digital synths, analog drums, and samplers. Did not play nice with the sub37 though, which makes sense.
but what are guitar pedals...really..?

For me its either Timmy! set to zero gain for a clean boost or a fuzz pedal. One of those is always on for me.

I have had a few over my travels.
Diamond comp
Dr sci cleanness
Zendrive

Currently rarely turn off my industrialectric rm1n. I just turn the mix Down to levels not really perceptible in a band mix then cranks it when I want it.

Also still have the Dr sci. Mad pedal.

It used to be the Tycobrahe Pedalflanger…

until it stopped working.

One of these days I need to send it to Chicago Iron to get it fixed.

Dang, I used to really want one of those. Those things (and the parachute) are neat.

I guess I could add my Moog MF 102 ring mod to the list because the "drive" is always on no matter what you do.

Ironically, a Moog 102 was one of the things I traded for the Pedalflanger.

The Pedalflanger is great because it can be real subtle.

I still haven't tried a Parachute wah, but I definitely wanna.

Interesting! What settings and where in the chain? :joy:
Last in the chain on the Rotary setting with the mix at a barely percivible
warble (about 11 o'clock on the older ones and 1 o'clock on the newer ones).
I normally keep the boost at about 9 o'clock.

I don't have any consistent signal chains, so I really don't belong in here. But when it's in line, I've always got a Joe Gore prototype pedal on. Mine is labeled the "Beef Dynamic Drive" with a couple of knobs for gain and volume. I understand the most recent plans are to do it knob-less as the "Faceless Fuzz" when it gets to production. It's a Fuzz Face derivative with lower gain that sounds cleaner than the input at lower guitar volume settings or with a light touch and cracks into a nice tough grind when you dig in (sounds like New Order's Ceremony to me). Stacks very well into other fuzzes.

Yea, parachute wah has always interested me but I've never been any good with moving footpedals but I was thinking more as a set sound kinda thing. The only reason I have my MF102 is because I had to exchange a broken koma bd101 for something (I was happy with all the other ring mods I had at the time). I think it was a good choice.

I think the subtle nature of the pedalflanger was what always attracted me to it before I realized I will probably never own one haha. I like flanging, just in short half sweep blasts that I think that would be perfect for and that frozen filter sound. I mean, I could but I just probably wont get around to it.

Nice stuff, Chank.

Get a Cosmichorus!

You can get a decent flanger sound out of it and you can set it to use the hold function to only turn it on when your foot activates the switch. Bam! Half sweep away! The lfo doesn't reset every time though, so your half sweep could begin anywhere.

Thanks for the tip, man. I've never really looked into those before, but they seem pretty damn cool (I haven't really looked into chorus in general). Maybe down the road.
