I heard it from a guy that heard it from a guy that after Earth decided to venture into solid state, they decided it would be swell to clone peavey and undercut the price. The early SS Earth heads were exact copies and functioned fine. Peavey became understandably miffed at this development and sued. They settled and part of the agreement was that earth could noot use the same circuit. Earth made the required amount of changes, not to improve the amp, but to comply with the law. These changes resulted in the fire hazard heads. If it still functions after all this time, I'd bet it was one of the earlier non stupid versions that don't catch on fire.

I don't think I'll ever own an $1800 rig, solid state or used Meatsmoke. If I had a real $1800 I'd fix life stuff, not amp boner. :(

That will be a sweet old school solid state amp!
I'm not sure I've ever owned a $1000 rig. Even $500 is pushing it.
I'm..... not gonna comment.

Unfortunately GC is in pretty much every state, so will have to add sales tax also.

The good news is I've never set foot in a guitar center, wonder sometimes if I might be missing out on anything.

I got an awesome Hagstrom guitar used from there and it was one of many in the store at the time. I think they bought out sometimes lot of Hagstroms.
