Sovtek 50's are pretty sweet. Fitz from Neon Hole / Choose Your Poison / Anthropic uses one in all three bands, sounds great with a different od or distortion preamping it. Don't know what he uses for the black metal band offhand, but HM2 for Neon Hole and I think it's a Super Overdrive for CYP.

Small needs... LOL. Most half stack bands are better off with 50's, IMO. Like rock and hardcore bands and such. Crusties look so sad when they can only turn a 100 watt amp up to like 3 or 4 at small shows.

Most of the smaller punk and crust bands I've seen rarely ever used tube heads. Not all but an unhealthy amount.

This is my Craigslist golden rule. I always list for more than I want/think it's worth.

Mig 50s are good, clean platforms.
You get a bassman and a plexi in one package.
And then you can blend them for ridiculous amounts of volume.
They would give most 100w amps a run for their money.

I'd like to hope this inflation of Sovtek prices stays high so I can make a return on my amp.

I guess I see a fair amount of Peavey and Crate solid state in the punk / crust scene, but really shit amps and gear is more and more rare, beyond the absolute beginner, usually shitty / short-lived bands. Gear is easy to find and cheap if that's what you're looking for, info-reviews-specs-opinions are easy to find. I always laugh inside at bands that have absolute crap gear, like the worst of the Crate amps, Behringer, and shit like that. I don't mind solid state amps for crusty-punk-grind stuff though. I might end up using two solid state amps for the grind band I've got started. My cheapass Peavey Firebass is the most brutal HM2 amp I've heard, and the Ampeg VH140C's Ultra Mid control works perfectly in combination with that.

:thumb: What's weird is when sellers just won't listen, like if they just list it a 8th time, it'll finally sell. There's a nice Acoustic Control Corp combo locally, would make a great portable jam amp. Guy won't budge off his imaginary worth of nearly $400. You can find the heads for $150.

Fitz' seems way more gainy than my Traynor Bassmaster - another Bassman/ plexi variant. I should have sold my Traynor while those were inflated in value! They seem to be coming down in price some?

The dude who was selling his Acoustic 370 with a 1x15 cab for $2200 finally came down in price! It's now $1800.

For $1800, I could just go get that overpriced 360 with a better cab in Madison, WI and save on shipping.

lol^^^

Also I haven't heard any 50watt anything that's moved me in anyway aside from wishing it was louder. I've heard many many of them. Also why I don't buy them.

Even my friend's MK60... he had that tricked out and it was probably the only one that made me consider getting sub 100watts... and even when I kept seeing them pop up I didn't. I'm glad I didn't now.

scincetificism aside, 50 watts don't cut the mustard when it comes to loud drummers and Giant bass amps. I'm down to 2 amps for the guitar rig nowadays, but both heads are redonkulously loud.
