Both my basses are active but I'm going to convert them to passive. Nothing to do with sound, vintage mojo or anything like that. Just sick of plugging in and finding that the battery is flat. Living in the country and not owning a car, it's not like I can just nip out to a convenience store and grab another. And Money is getting harder to come by. If I want a punchier bass sound I have pedals that will give me the punch I'm looking for. And also some of the fuzzes I like don't like the active signal.

As always, D.o.S. is a FONT OF QUOTABLE WISDOM!!!!!!!

Although I did have a Music Man Sterling that played great... not great enough to keep, mind you, but it was pretty slick.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Little Joe was always the cutest.
Adam was probably the only one getting laid.

jwar wrote:I mean honestly Ben your thought process is the best to have though. Too much thought is put into stupid crap like the woods. I mean seriously, who cares? It's been proven time and time again that the difference are so subtle that it's not distinguishable by the human ear. But you bet your ass there's a guy that own 9 instruments with different woods that will tell you different. COUGH Excane COUGH lol. hahahaha

I don't know the woods on my instrument either? Except the neck in wenge which is pronounced when gay. Which is funny.

Sheldon told me he fucking hates working with when gay but people love it so much. He said it's shit and doesn't make the build process easy.
I hate odd numbers so just sell me yours.

In exchange, I will promote when-gay as the new choice wood on all MTD instruments AND I'll send you a rocktron boost pedal. :)

When I had my Dingwall AB1, It didn't miss an active bass.

I will say that I LOVE the EBMM 4 band preamp, that is a motherfucking monster. I wish I had a Big Al or 25th Anniversary bass again. So much punch on the dick...

I have a cheapy headless 80s Washburn Steinberger designed bass…It is active and passive and is PUNCHY AS HELL in passive mode, it seems like active just makes it louder so I leave it in passive.

Also, the bass isn't the only part of the equation, Amplification and Speakers Ya'll.

It's mostly just that I'm pretty dumb at making music, so I stick to what I can handle.
