have someone etch the enclosures for you, jwar/excane or something, preorders and everything.
He said on FB he wouldn't be making these right now so he could do more Anti-Nautiluses (Nautili, whatever). I want that, but I want this. Why can't the world get both?

Yep. I kinda totally agree. Sure I'd like great things to happen to other people. But... I'd
also like to plug into this delay and stumble down the soundscape it creates. To maintain
integrity I could always tape a picture of the more fancy enclosure next to the pedal while I play.

you clearly have a huge talent for designing pedals. and you enjoy it so much that you continue to take the time and energy to create new amazing designs after working a full time job. there must be someone you can trust who can take your designs and manufacture them in a way that satisfies you. THERE MUST BE

I think this would fundamentally change what makes Sonic Crayon so special, though.

Hey I appreciate the vote of confidence from you on the etching Vidret! I would love to work with Sonic Crayon. I totally understand the way he does it though. Taylor from Iron Ether does it the same way now. Makes sense. PLUS it makes your stuff so much more desirable.

Plus his enclosure techniques are something so amazing, I'd be scared to mess with it. hahaha.

I would like to try something of yours on day. :)

I guess I'm in the minority here....

Pedal cosmetics are never a deal breaker for me and very rarely make my socks roll up and down. If I have to choose between paying more and/or waiting substantially longer to get something bling vs the faster/cheaper/non-bling version - well non-bling is going to win 99% of the time.

And I say this with no offense to cloudscapes - while I think the Sonic Crayon graphics are fine, the SOUND is the thing. Ya dig?

yeah i read that, and i get it, but that probably also means i'll never see a sonic crayon pedal in real life.
I can really see both sides of the argument here and I'm having a hard time choosing aside, and not because I'm indifferent but because as much as I'd like to get my hands on some tasty tasty sonic crayon. A substantial amount of why I like them is the way he sells them. Not because I could have something no one else has but because much like mtl.ass he makes what he's interested in until he's not interested anymore and then he's done and I really admire that.

I'll catch up to the discussion/pm's in a bit.

In the meantime, the plain box vs nice box thing, it's still undecided. And there are perfectly okay arguments towards and against either one. Which is why it's a dilemma.

I'm good at inventing designs, but I'm bad at business, and bad at going through with risky decisions, and with taking the advice of others, regarding all this.

Your stuff is so legit, man. There's a real benefit to being a small operation - you get to make what you want, how you want it, when you want it.

I gotta get my firmware skills up to par so I can make something as cool as the Anti-Nautilus or Mechanical Sun.

agreed. if there was a sonic crayon pedal in an unfinished hammond enclosure, i would still be drooling all over it knowing the beauty on the inside. (the count to 5 is kind of like that for me know, i just love that ugly smurf :trippy: )

going to throw this idea out there: a crayon box. unassembled sonic crayon kits. when you are ready to order your pcb and parts for your own personal awesome box, get a little pre-order going and just multiply whatever you're getting. then you just upload some code, divvy it up, and send it out. we assemble it ourselves.
