Yeah, it is crazy how much it really is not what you know but who you know.

I am really trying to break into the Enterprise level of sales, which is LUCRATIVE…but it is a dance, all of the time. I figure if I can do that for 5 or 7 years because by then I could; buy an apartment complex, have payed off my house, and start to do something like work at a non-profit.

My current managers are total incompetent assholes, which is a real shame because a lot of the people I work with are awesome, but the managers are slowly and progressively destroying the place. People try to tell them this, and their response is to blame all the people they manage. Meanwhile, the place used to be awesome with different managers, so clearly it isn't the people. Total frustration.

I keep thinking I have to write a song about these jackasses.

My bosses are awesome, and the people who I'm responsible for are also awesome. It's also pretty easy to avoid the facade of micromanaging when you work remotely. :thumb:

That said, though, my experiences are largely concurrent with Nora's, re: preferring to stay hands off but having to do the opposite when the situation calls for it.

My boss is very hands off, lets me do my thing and puts in minor revisions along the way. I wish he would give me more constructive criticism to push my skills a bit, but I just try to self-critique to push myself.

I mean he does have a house in Vermont so...

I went from working at an agency to being in-house as a graphic designer. Very different. My old CD micromanaged to the extreme and now I work under the VP of Marketing (which he does have a degree in design at least) who gives me free reign on most projects.

I need someone in the middle of the two.

You gotta get in there and make him work.

The biggest problem I am having is that major issues seem to get glossed over for months and we obsess about little stuff.

My boss is too busy fussing over every detail of her friend's wedding to realize we have a huge incoming deadline that she's letting come too close. And this is after firing the other part of my team. I study and work full time, I'm not dealing with this shit.

anyone work with a repeater?

This is a person who gives you information and then repeats it a few times
maybe they rephrase it but mostly they just over explain everything.

I got one of those, he always catches me on my way to the bathroom

I get micromanaged constantly even though I'm the only person in the office who's not a complete and total fuck up.

Definitely that last part. I don't know if it's a purposeful strategic move so I don't ask him any questions, but this one guy I work with will tell me EVERYTHING he knows in response to my question, but doesn't ever answer the goddamn question in the process.
