Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
Pelliott - I gotcha, keep the amp quiet and let the pedals have the volume they want. Makes sense, and probably works pretty well with the Arrows. Not that my amps are loud, but I should give that a shot.
Ax - I'm actually not sure what it is. EQD Jamie said it's a colorful boost/cut pedal or something like that. I read some review that compared it to what a Klon does when clean boosting, but I have my doubts about the accuracy of that statement given the very wide ranging descriptions of what a Klon actually does. Alls I know is that it has some magic in there for a dark amp, and makes my Pharaoh chug like you wouldn't believe. Like so much that I'm kind of contemplating selling the QM...

Thanks. I love chorus - the Cosmi sounds really great after fuzz as well.
The Arrows will be an always on thing for me, probably set just a bit over unity gain just because of the eq change on my cleans and what it does to dirt. It can provide a pretty large boost if you want though.

It seems similar to an EP booster, just that sparkly clean boost that gets a little gritty at the end of the dial, adds some good compression there. Really tightens up dirt pedals very nicely.

Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
I raised this over in the EQD thread and Jamie was quick to shoot it down. So while it is NOT an EP1 pre pedal, it behaves similarly.pelliott wrote:It seems similar to an EP booster, just that sparkly clean boost that gets a little gritty at the end of the dial, adds some good compression there. I have a henretta Emerald Prince (up for sale) which is an EP1 pre in one of those tiny enclosures and I found I liked it always on, up front of the chain, like T. Brings out interesting elements in dirt placed after it as well.

Yeah I said similar, but I know Jamie is trying to make sure it's known to be not the same circuit.Iommic Pope wrote:I raised this over in the EQD thread and Jamie was quick to shoot it down. Ja. They got kinda trendy all of a sudden.
They are quite useful, though.

Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
Well after buying a couple of pedals from Pope for my second board for the Matamp...im thinking the dirt on the matamp could be the pharaoh + Arrow...based on your description it would be a damn good combo...t-rey wrote:I can see it being a solid addition to your rig.samzadgan wrote:All this Arrow talk is getting me really interested...i must check it out...

I could chuck in that Emerald Prince for a good price on group buy. It'll cost nothing extra to post.....

Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
i voted for you in the bilf. i think the board pic was a little different, but i knew it was yours. so many nice boards, but so few i could imagine playing through. basically, a nice dirt section and the presence of either a ghost echo or a dmm caught my attention.t-rey wrote:Yep. That will definitely bring the toanz. In other news, our boards are really similar again...it was only a matter of timepelliott wrote:

I also have no idea how you are running that kind of volume in an apartment, I assume you have superpowers.

Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
you just need a ghost echo. best reverb out there, particularly with dirt. why big box though, it's the same circuit either way? i prefer smaller, given the choice, but suit yourself.fever606 wrote:

Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
You're right, of course, that it makes no functional difference. But I have big, dumb feet and like some breathing room between those pesky footswitches. I'll take the "big box" version of just about any pedal for that reason alone.misterstomach wrote:you just need a ghost echo. best reverb out there, particularly with dirt. why big box though, it's the same circuit either way? i prefer smaller, given the choice, but suit yourself.fever606 wrote:I neeeeed a big box Ghost Echo...
