To be fair, one of the main attractions of the Maths is that in addition to the great dual slope generators it has an awesome mixing section, making the module very useful for tons of things. It's a very nice evolution of the Serge module, not just a copy...Deltaphoenix wrote:Serge, pretty much the ultimate format IMO. So expensive but nothing sounds like it (electricity!! it is alive) or has the possibilities for multiple functions from so many modules. In Euroland, they love the MATHS, which is based off of Serge, because of the depth of functionality.

Inspired by Serge, like the DPO is inspired by Buchla, doesn't mean they are clones or there aren't other features. The Dual Slopes is like 6 or 7 potential functions depending on patching on a DUSG. The Mixing section has logic, right? cool addition.

Re: Let's see your KEYS/SYNTHS!
Yeah, the Maths is just like the dual slopes except maybe for the tracking that might be a bit different. The mixing is basically an attenuverter for each slope + 2 other channels that can be used as attenuverters too for an incoming channel and are by default normalized to a foxed voltage source. You can then get the sum of all 4 channels or the max output. And individuals channels can be removed from the summed outputs too. The new version had a couple of other features. It's basically smart routing, makes more complex setups with the slopes easier too (to get different types of response for attack and decay for example).
So, what do the dual processors do in your panel ? And who is it from ?
A panel like that really looks awesome. The unified look and feel is really appealing (though I love my small patchwork euro

The Dual Voltage processor can mix CV, offset it, invert it. Most CV inputs on Serge have attenuators so it doesn't do that.
Dmitri- COA Modular made it. http://www.coa-modular.com
Dmitri is a cool guy, he has Serge's blessing to build these. Serge does see some residual income from these (unlike STS, the "official" Serge synths…) from the use of the Serge designed boards. I think Serge is getting Dmitri more official designs soon, some have started to roll out (Precision Controlled Oscillator just became available). I have another panel from Dmitri, it is a essentially a TKB with Buttons, if I want to change it to Touch Strips, I can.
I have one STS Serge panel (Animate).

So I'm not sure if I am or am not yet scammed. I bought a moog model D for a price that is toooooo good to be true so I covered all my basis and I payed through a credit card, through paypal, and then also made sure I did it entirely in a way that I could do a chargeback and file a claim quickly.
The person seems to be nice and all that and gave me pictures, and a plus is that she doesn't seem to know exactly what it's for. I'll see what happens, maybe I'll get a box full of confetti. This price is almost assuredly a scam but I'm letting my optimism cloud my judgement.

Cool, even better if the circuit's creator gets something from it...Deltaphoenix wrote:The Dual Voltage processor can mix CV, offset it, invert it. Most CV inputs on Serge have attenuators so it doesn't do that.

The fact that you can choose the modules you want in your panel makes it more interesting than the usual Serge panels in my opinion.
Between that, the insane abundance of Euro and other formats like 5U/Modcan/Buchla, we really live in the golden age of modulars now...

Very interesting setup...
What do you use the Disting for ?
It looks like a very cool module but things that have so many options do not appeal to me that much in a modular...

Dang dude you built up that set up quick it seems. Looks super rad. How is it?

Re: Let's see your KEYS/SYNTHS!
At the moment I am REALLY not using the Disting to it's full potential. I've used it mostly for delay or LFO. I also read about a cool trick to use the clockable LFO mode and an audio rate signal as the clock to produce harmonics of the original signal, which was pretty cool. Messed around with the VCOs a bit too I guess. I honestly still haven't used half of the other things in there and had to go check what some of them were (who knew I had a waveshaperoscillateur wrote:Very interesting setup...

I think I'm going to go watch that demo right now actually.
Yeah it's only been a few months since I got into it. It definitely pulled me in quickly. But I also sold like half my pedals and a few instruments to fund it, which I'm surprisingly not regretting at allkbithecrowing wrote:Dang dude you built up that set up quick it seems. And I am absolutely loving it. Intimidating to start but so worth it. Limitless noises and something about the chaos of all the wires and knobs just really appeals to me
It is a bit endless though; just so many damned modules every where!

Re: Let's see your KEYS/SYNTHS!
Yep, the Disting might also be useful to find out the things you actually use all the time and thus should have as a dedicated modules
.
But yeah, nice selection of modules, might just lack a dedicated mixer module or something (to use just before the Rosie). But depending on your workflow that might not be necessary.
And get yourself a module that allows you to plug your guitar/bass/etc. in the modular (Gozinta if you already have something that brings the instrument to line level, A119, Entry Point, etc.). Lots of fun to be had that way too...

Yeah that's another good thing about the Disting. I can get to know a lot of different modules without buying a lot of different modules.oscillateur wrote:Yep, the Disting might also be useful to find out the things you actually use all the time and thus should have as a dedicated modules.

Only got two functions into the demo and I'm already facepalming hard. I really need to go try those out
I've been considering picking up an Intellijel Unity Mixer because I will have 2hp left over after swapping the SOS for the Wogglebug. But I feel like it wouldn't be that useful to me without attenuators
Haven't really considered plugging guitar into the modular but I would like some sort of output module that I can plug into pedals

Re: Let's see your KEYS/SYNTHS!
If you just want to go into the pedals (i.e. not back to the modular after), any attenuator will work (even passive, i.e. just a pot). In your system, channel 2 or 3 of your Maths would do the trick for example. To get back into the modular you'd need something to amplify the signal, like one of the modules I mentioned.
And yeah, I was more talking about a mixer with attenuators, though you can use the optomix for that in the meantime (with something else like the output of Ripples in the external in, that gives you 3 channels)...
