Yeah fuck the trade. Hang on to the Ibanez for sure. They had their shit together by the early 70s and by the 80s they really knew how to copy the big boys.Swollenpickle666 wrote:Sweet. 2 people from the board is all I needed. Fuck the trade.

Re: Craigslist and Ebay watch(doom specific)
Keep that destroyer, dude. You'll never be able to sell that guitar for a good price. Those things are way undervalued. So cheap but they're awesome.
Here's a story for you. I used to work for this band, a pretty well known metal band that probably everyone on this board has heard of. One of the guitar players had this x series destroyer, from around the same time as yours. I'm pretty sure it was an 84. It was his first electric guitar he had ever had. Got it when he was 14. I had known the dude for a good while and he had been playing this guitar in bands for years. Like anyone, he had some ideas like "maybe I should get a nicer guitar than the $250 guitar I got in middle school", even though he loved it. The thing was beat to shit. The hardware was all rusty from sweat and it looked like it was found on a beach. It was getting hard to intonate cause the bridge was getting so rusty. There's only so many times you're going to fly to Europe for a tour playing festivals and shit with a guitar like that before you're thinkng you can find something better. Eventually he bought an sg. Played it for a while and wasn't happy, went back to the destroyer somewhat reluctantly. Eventually they get an endorsement deal with monson and he gets one of those. He brings the destroyer on tour for a back up guitar and mid tour he starts going back to playing the ibanez, at which point I think he's crazy. Which he probably is. I'd rather play the monson, but it wasn't doing it for him. Eventually the ibanez was basically unplayable. The hardware was rusted. The pickups were rusted. It couldn't be setup well. The last tour I did with them was a three month long deal all through the US and Europe. It was clear the destroyer wasn't going to make it. When I showed up to help sort merch and work out packing the trailer and vehicle, he had finally gotten a new guitar he was happy with. He spent $300 on another 1984 x series destroyer.

If you find one at this price LET ME KNOW!Krosis wrote:you could probably pick up a nice G400 for $200 used. Maybe even less if you're lucky.
Edit: Scratch that, just found a refurb Silverburst for $319....so tempting.
Or Pelham Blue....
Also, fuck trading that destroyer. Old Ibanez is where it is fucking at.
That thing is beautiful, by the way.

I'm clearing out some pedals that I don't use. Figured I'd post the CL ad up here, in case any of you guys are interested. I'll give a little extra discount for doombros.
