Setup of the day thread?

Postby finboy » Wed Oct 29, 2014 4:42 pm

People from offset will recognize this idea, basically this is a page for gear whores, so why not celebrate by posting pics, clips, etc. of what you are working on/with today. I always love seeing how people evolve their setup day to day, and hear what prompted them to do it. What works, what doesn't, ask questions, ask if people can try combos of gear, etc. the idea ISN'T like your standard board, as there is a thread for that, this one is more like "I'm experimenting with this to see if it can eventually become my setup"

Omnichord into a marshall? Cool! Bass through 15 pedals? Great! Looper into delays? Awesome!

I was playing this earlier this week, trying out for a band, failed horribly and didn't get the gig, but finally figured out how to use the ehx superego in a musical way.

Good stuff, btw I used the superego with the original mix at noon, the effect at about 9, speed cranked, gliss at noon, on auto mode to simulate a feedbacking guitar it the band had recorded. Without playing too loud, it did a good job of approximating two feedbacking guitars used to lead in and end a song on the ep. I later used it with delay and the 80's setting on the flint to cover an accordion setting, the gliding between the notes helped match the sound of the accordion, the reverb and delay gave it a more atmospheric feel to fill out an otherwise acoustic arrangement.

there should be clips added too if possible to show what kinds of sounds you're going for/getting with the setup.

Unfortunately me recording device is currently an iPhone, might have a better setup in the new place when I move and get a job. As a bonus, here is some digitech space station sounds through a boomerang looper, all sounds are some guitar>space station>Boomerang 3>fender bronco

The other night I had: bass -> Lastgasp 88 -> Phase 90 -> Meet Maude -> amp / speakers / floor

It sounded like cats crying as I turned the knobs through a wall of feedback with my bass on a stand.

It was so awesome my wife walked in and asked me to make it stop, oh please just make it all stop. :joy:

My setup is geared towards ultimate flexibility. Swapping around a couple patch cables in the bay is all it takes to go from series to parallel on a dozen rackspaces worth of fun and other outboard gear.

I *rarely* need to go past my usual insane setup.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I was having some mysterious connection problems last night. A guitar plugged into an effect plugged into an amp passed signal only when the pedal was bypassed. But the pedal is turning on so power must be reaching it. I even tried a pedal with no power supply and a fresh battery, nothing. Swapped patch cables, nothing. Swapped different pedals, nothing. :idk:

So I just played this guitar into this amp (not my pictures).

Starcaster is a Rhoney starblaster with a cross guitars neck.

No setup today, everything got moved to the basement in prep for a party, instead I will post another clip.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 77967&_rdr

Guitar>zvex wah probe>lofi looper>polychorus>Van Amms reverb>re150 space echo>amp

To get the really warbled sound in the loop, I shook my foot Side to side over the contact pad of the probe, looped it, made more wobbles out of the chorus on the polychorus after the looper, then ran it through reverb and tape echo to get a big sound

It's a miserable day out, decided to try to rip off some stone roses.

Squier bass vi>space station>supermoon chrome>fender bronco

The space station is there for a bit of higher frequency synth sounds, not sure if it comes through on the vid though
