There is now way the show won't have completely eclipsed the books by the end of next season, either.

Was not aware that the Lannisters:

were actually not coming into any new gold. Is that in book 5?
I put that away in case anyone hasn't watched it yet.
I didn't realize that either. I'm not even sure that it's mentioned in the books

although Cersi obviously knows that the crown owes a tremendous amount of money to the Iron Bank. I always assumed that Little Finger had something to do with that though...
And yeah, Craster's was extremely well done. Showed a lot of shit that is relevant to the story in a much more entertaining and concise way.

Definitely.
Re the iron bank:

I haven't read anything about the mines running dry, yet, but I'm still at the beginning of the fifth book. I thought it was little finger who had kept the money in the air to offset Robert's binge orgies? Doesn't tyrion mention being flabbergasted by that when he takes over as master of coin? Wouldn't surprise me if little finger has it all there waiting to hand to the iron bank once he's got the veil and winterfell (read, the north) and harrenhall (which he still believes to be his, didnt joff give it to him?) in his hot little hands? Pretty sure the lord of light and the whytes are gonna fuck that up for him though. Winter. Its still coming.

The stuff about the mines was never mentioned in the books that I can remember, although it would explain why the crown was in debt with the Iron Bank. As far as Little Finger, I got the impression that Tyrion was assuming something similar to your theory. The books looked like there was a shitload going on, but there was never any real gold to show for it. He is definitely up to something, and something huge. The failure that accompanies his very admirable power grab will be nothing short of amazing to see.

I was very much a fan of Dinklage's performance in the ending monologue. Definitely did the books justice.

Did Stannis go and deal with the Iron Bank in the books? Is it one of those things they just briefly mention and don't show?

Not a fan of the whole Asha Greyjoy running away from Ramsey Snow thing. Had that taken place in the books, I imagine she would've planted an axe right between his eyes. I like what the scene does as far as contextualizing events and moving the narrative ahead in a more entertaining way (ala Bran at Craster's) but I feel like they really took away from book Asha's character.

Yeah, that whole storming the castle scene was pretty anticlimactic. As someone who hasnt read the books, I figured Ramsey was a dead man.

I can't wait for the trial by combat though. Nobody better say a word about it.

As far as I've read, this whole Stannis meets the Iron Bank thing is new.

I honestly thought that Asha rescuing Theon thing was going to kickstart that whole Iron Born gone wild thing that happens in the books, but....I'm still trying to figure out where that was all going.
Ramsay's turning Theon into Reek is interesting, I assume he's going to take that somewhere now.

Still waiting for that King's moot and insane tales from Old Valerya with Euron. I'm hoping that will still be a thing.

My patience for departures from the books is getting pushed the further they push. I'm willing to give some slack because of the necessity of adaptation, but when I don't see the point of the departure at all, it gets weird. For the first half of the last episode, there were like zero narrative lines that tracked to the books. Maybe it'll work out and make sense, but I don't see the long game yet.

Yeah - I did a bit of research and they appear to have done that to introduce the Iron Bank and also streamline a couple of plot points.

I like the idea of seeing the Iron Born do something this season, since they wouldn't be mentioned otherwise, but the whole running away from the dogs thing felt dumb.
NSFW: show
I'm with you. I feel like they will do the King's Moot since the Euron's end game is to go to Meereen and get dem dragons. I can't wait to see Euron is all of his insane nightshade drinking glory.

I like most of it. Especially all of the additional stuff you get to see with Tywin. My fear is that they get so comfortable streamlining and adding action that the show will become a different story all together.
