The blue HM fuzz is pretty much a Big Muff with LED clipping and a few other tweaks

pretty versatile. it can be a gnarly rock overdrive, or a full on fuzz roar. the dude who designed the circuit has made custom pedals for the dudes in SUNN & St. Vitus. he knows what's up.

the HM fuzz was produced in three different small batches (and actually two different circuits) built and designed by members. the stipulation was that if you sold it, you'd sell it on HM for the price you paid...but several guys thought it would be funny to hype it up to the TGP crowd because they get so riled up about things they can't have...and the rest is history...

sorry if this is all old news.
Actually, that's really helpful - probably the most cogent summary I've seen of the whole dealio.

Yea I've never understood and now that we have someone actually selling one here, I'm thinking "WTF?". Good to hear how and why.

I never liked Harmony Central. It's such a shitty forum. The whole place had a weird vibe to it. So I'd just read threads and never respond.

The same with the Gear Page except I hardly get on there ever.

Wow I haven't heard that screen name in ages. How long ago did HC fall into a hole in the earth?

Oh gosh, it's been years, hasn't it? I had pretty much gotten bored with it and stopped checking in regularly months before they blew themselves up. FWIW, I like this screenname better.

Resurrecting this thread because, funnily enough, I found out about HM on TGP. A guy in a thread I was in had this quoted one as his profile pic. I'd never seen it before and wondered what the hell it was, so I messaged him. He told me, I googled it and ended up here.

An invite only forum-produced fuzz almost gives me a lameness aneurysm. But that thing's so damn cool looking. Ugh. What do the controls do?

Annoyingly f'n intrigued. Happy to take a break from TGP though and come check out ILF a little more... please be gentle.

We popvulture, welcome to the dark side. I'll admit that there I, too, have lusted for the HM fuzz. There is just so much great readily available stuff in the world that no one should care/remember that this exists. Check out smallsound/bigsound and FuzzHugger, and forget about all that mystic voodoo bullshit. These guys are the real deal!
Also: we don't bite, we occasionally make fun of TGP the forum, but we're nice to every person that isn't a total dickwad. Also we fucking cuss a shit ton more.
Basically, if you're here, and you aren't a robot selling mulch tools, or a troll monster trying to manipulate our old pal aen, you're the same as the rest of us, and therefore, a cool cat.
