Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
I'm hesitant to sell my Hotcake, I think it might be one of those pedals that I pull out once in a while and plug straight into my most voxlike EL84 amp. I mainly used it as a grainy boost when it was on my pedal. Who knew what I needed was OD that wasn't a TS variant. I had the /13 coloursound variant, The Joyride, but it's gain seemed to be almost nothing until you got to about 9, then too much, and not a super pleasing one, maybe I just prefer germanium?Chankgeez wrote:Yeah, it's kind of limited. If you like what it does, it's fine. I've just never found a use for it within my set ups. I've got an older one with the "Mid Lift" switch and only really like it when the lift is engaged. I'm thinking about selling it or something. IDK.goroth wrote:I think the hotcake works best as a really coloured boost with some hair on it. It was great with my laney vc30 but is too dark for my other amps. Still sounds great, just can't get it bright enough.Chankgeez wrote:Sweet.
Yeah, I've got a strange relationship with overdrives. I never really liked the Hotcake (which I think is more of a distortion anyway), but the Colorsound Overdriver circuit is something different altogether. I've always wanted to try that ThoBak, but the price is a little steep for me.

Newer one is much more versatile with the presence knob, but it's still a very particular pedal. Sounds beastly with a TS goosing it. Great heavy rock tone.Chankgeez wrote:Yeah, it's kind of limited. I just fitted a Decibel 11 Hot Stone Isolated Power Supply underneath and rearranged the pedal order.

Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
A good clean boost at the end of your chain can fatten everything up and give your board an overall volume boost if you need it without overdriving the pedals in front of it. Well I should say thats my experience with my Dunwich clean boost in that position at least.myrrh wrote:Is you EP boost last in the chain?
