Looks great! Did you just add a smidgen of water to the lye to start the reaction or...?Hexjibber wrote:My latest build, a Suhr Riot clone, box etched with Caustic Soda.

Was gonna do two in series but after testing the first one thought that was a dumb idea. Probably A/B and just have different settings for each.Gone Fission wrote:LaoWiz wrote: Been wanting to replace my old clarinot. Decided to do a two in one!![]()
Details! Just two in series or special tricks?

Thanks man!Jero wrote:Looks great! Did you just add a smidgen of water to the lye to start the reaction or...?Hexjibber wrote:My latest build, a Suhr Riot clone, box etched with Caustic Soda.

Right on, might have to give that a try some time. I've used it before, just not for this purpose. Vinegar works pretty well at soothing the burn, btw.Hexjibber wrote:Thanks man!I use an approx 40% solution, so 40g of lye per 100ml of water, anything over 50% makes the reaction too strong and it eats away at the mask in no time! If you're going to try it just be sure you only ever add lye to water and not the other way round, it creates a much more violent reaction mixing the latter way. Also thick rubber gloves are a must, that shit burns!
