Does this go here?
Anyway, I don't know how many on here are/were fans of his, but Zbigniew Karkowski passed away today. Apparently, according to Lars Akerlund, "Zbigniew Karkowski was diagnosed with pancreas cancer and had first symptoms only 10 weeks ago. Western medicine could not cure him so he went to see a shaman in Peru - but apparently his condition was too bad, so after only two days in the jungle he couldn’t take it anymore."
I saw him play twice, and played on the same bill with him the second time around (we also played a short collaborative set with a third musician, Goh Lee Kwang). I wasn't particularly close to him, but he came across as a thoroughly decent human being in the little time I spent with him (which included getting somewhat lost trying to send him and his wife back to their hotel).
What's particularly gutting for me is the fact that I forgot that I recorded the collab we did... until today, of course. While the timing is ridiculously unfortunate, Lee Kwang and I decided that sharing it would be a good way to pay tribute to Zbigniew, his work and his legacy, so:
RIP.
