Re: Let's see your AMP!
My newest monster (ok, I've had the head for a while but was using it as a glorified DI box when recent jam developments prodded me to want to use it live), a Fender Mustang V with matching 4x12.
Stupid loud, has all the patches I've spent a year building, and also sounds damn good quiet.
Speakers need some breakin but that takes time.

Hey, you.. the one making me want things....skullservant wrote:The poweramp boost makes everything LOUDER. The preamp boost also boosts volume a bit, but it doesn't increase gain drastically like most boosts would. It actually just adds presence, a little more chime, and makes everything sound even more full than it already does. I was telling Ancient, I compare this Verellen's base tone to that of the Jet City (with a little more roundness because of the 6550's) but then with the preamp boost it goes into like HYPER clean bold mode. And then with the power amp boost its like LOUD HYPER CLEAN BOLD mode.warwick.hoy wrote:What's dat poweramp boost doooo?
Got to crank it while I was over at Ancient's this past weekend. Zero preamp breakup. ALL power amp/tube breakup. It's wonderful

I don't leave the house. And it has casters.

Re: Let's see your AMP!
I brought this home today

yes my cat is already eying the new spot to sit, that's how new the amp is to my home!
This was the first amp I heard rip my ears off!
belonged to a mighty montreal band that inspired me to play in bands, and made me realize that anything goes... literally anything!
Anyone know much about these heads? Fender Showman Reverb
what should I look for. Serial is A81***... i've only founding conflicting data for dating this.
what about the circuit? how can I find out what circuit is in there.
the amp is in pretty ugly shape, but it did power up and make sound.
I'm also looking forward to opening up the cab to see what speakers are in there.

They're basically a Twin Reverb in a headshell. You can find endless details about the Dual Showman/Showman Reverb/Twin Reverb on the net. They're amazing amps—loud and clean. I prefer them to the combo's because they're more portable.

endosperm. I doubt anyone's heard of them since they pretty much only played barfly. to my 15year old ears they were gods.lapsteel wrote:Hey Forrest, which montreal band you get that showman off?
Cool. thanks. I'm all for heavy gear, but twins really are a bitch to move around.AngryGoldfish wrote:They're basically a Twin Reverb in a headshell. Barfly.... I love that dirty old dive!!
I used to go there all the time. I don't remember endosperm, but I used to go to hear Jerk Appeal.... Ted the bartender brought some serious New York punk rock flavour. Awesome memories.
Sweet rig, especially since it has a history that you can really appreciate. Sentimental reek of sweat, cigarettes and stale booze.
