that's sweet...i'm also really considering tickets to hellfest this year!...not sure if I'm young enough for the camping though!
you can't be that old. human certainty and i did the camping at hellfest a few years ago, in my early 30's. i had a great time. it helps to drink very heavily. you can sleep anywhere!
im in my late 30's…I can imagine the drinking would make a difference…but i can't really drink that much, which means i would be sober, and in my old age i have developed certain cleanliness ocd behaviours…not over the top, but they're there…i don't think "sober" and "festival" would work!

The last time i did it was about 4-5 years ago, and i remember being relatively sober for the majority of the 3 days, and there were a lot of times that i just didn't want to be there. Every festival after that i've managed to get a room in a nearby hotel and just go back and forth between the hotel and festival. The best part about getting a hotel is bumping into "talent".

I went to Bloodstock 3 years ago and Obituary was playing on the saturday…and that night when i went back to my hotel i saw John and Donald in the lobby…just having a drink and chilling out. I really wanted to go and say hi, but my wife was quick to point out that, the last thing they want is to be bothered by a star struck awkward 30 something year old…so i just played it cool and smiled at them as we walked past…John smiled back…-tick- :!!!: (my wife to this day says he smiled at her…i don't agree…denial is a great thing!)

Yeah man I phased modern metal out of my life at about the same time LoG got huge. It all got very same same about then. And fucking breakdowns in every song....fuck. Sep and Slayer are still the shit. And I don care if it makes me a bogan, but Pantera fucking rules.
mate, it warms my heart to see someone say (or write) began! i miss australia. Rest assured, Pantera ain't began…they were magic!

But yeah Slayer for me was everything up to Seasons…i don't listen to anything after that, but live…i have to say they are still the best band i've seen live. the only other back that comes close is Iron Maiden for me. As far as Sepultura goes, never seen them live, and only really liked 3 albums, Beneath the remains, arise and parts of Chaos AD.

Shitcanned our drummer the other day. THAT wasn't fun, but was necessary- we'll see if the band lives on.

YOOOOU should check out the live album from the classic sepultura lineup Beyond A Pale Grey Sky. It's about 65,000,000,000,000 times better than the studio versions of their songs--I hate 90's metal production, which carried over into all those Lamb of God/Shadow's Fall/God Forbid/Killswitch Engage bands that were absolutely massive in New England for a while.

I remember Slayer live being completely exhausting. And I wasn't moshing or even headbanging, really.

Ouch man, never fun. Hshe did seem a bit out of place with the rest of the band. Decent drummer though from what I could tell. If things dont work out your always welcome to come jam with us. I might have to knock out a wall or something to make room for another person/rig but we could figure something out.

As promised, here's the pic of the completed 4x12 I got from Parker. Apologies for the horrible camera phone photography. I really need to chill on gear and buy a camera.

Meshuggah are highly aware of how ridiculous they look and they play it up on stage. Its hilarious and awesome.
And uncompromisingly broodal!
Saw Meshuggah a couple of years ago with Decapitated and weirdly, Baroness. Decapitated was extremely tight but I hated their live guitar sound, but it works for their style and it was so dope to see one of the first death metal bands I got into live. Baroness' set was really cool but a lot of the fans hated them for making 'whale noises' (was just some improvised drone really) in between songs :whateva:

Meshuggah was incredible and their light technician is top notch as well, I hope I get the chance to see them again some day

AxAxSxSx, you don't know how much I appreciate that bro- I may just take you up on it and, if so, will do whatever to limit the need for wall removal

I've been on a Pantera kick for the last week or 2. They hit some surprisingly doomy spots:

Cool man, just was talking to Tony about it and he thought it would be cool to try too. I could always downsize my rig and we could possibly put parts of the PA in the other room or out in the hall. I do hope it doesn't kill the band though. As much as it would be awesome to steal you away I do dig the jams and would love to do another show together.

Honestly, I don't know that you guys need much thickening up in the guitar area, but if you wanna try it, I'm game- you dudes are fun to hang with and we won't be auditioning drummers until January anyway. It's kind of that holiday slowdown time of year, but I'm unemployed and usually around and looking for an excuse to get out of the house.... and beer.

I've been doing a lot of looping to make the sound we have happen. I WOULD LOVE TO NOT HAVE TO DO THAT!!! Also there a ton of spots where I think dual lead thing would be awesome, as well as areas where I am singing and therefore keep it kinda simple. When we started this I had wanted to make it a two guitar thing but we just never found the right person. Having someone come in who "gets it" already would kick ass.
We have beer.
