lol. the trick is he DOESN'T get useable sounds. he's basically playing a shitty contact mic with the way he "slaps". i don't know how much time they spend cleaning it up in the studio, but i went with a photog friend and was in the media pit right in front of the stage when Korn and Rob Zombie played the Bay a bit ago..... the sounds were just...... awful. clicky clicky clack. and i like clacky sound effects, but it wasn't like... an occasional addition.

...... but good GAWD i'd love to have his money and life. just do KrOn and then have a side project that was more interesting musically.

are they any good now? i liked the first 2.4 albums, then the next 3 or so were so meh i don't really remember what i didn't like.

I don't know, I loved the first two albums, then I thought the third one was an abortion and haven't listened since.

I liked it better before he started slapping.

I don't know why I hate slapping so much. Probably something to do with every 16 year old at Guitard Center or any other music store slapping away but not knowing a lick of theory or having the capability to play in a band setting or stay in the pocket.

Slapping, like many bass related things, can sound good when I'm not the one doing it.

Pretty much. I hate splapping cause I can't splap. When other people do it; it's cool, but anymore I feel like it's just a cliche. It was cool in When Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins were doing it. I didn't complain to much when it started to regain popularity. I mean for a while I thought I had no choice but to learn how to do it myself and immersed my self in Victor Wooten-y-ness. I feel like it's running it's course and I'm glad for that. Now anymore; whenever I hear it; I'm just like please don't/in disbelief.

I try to fake if I have to. Here is hoping I don't have to.

lol. i know i'm shit at it, so when i do it i don't even TRY to do funky impressive stuff.

i like it with fuzz and od for the different tonality.

and sometimes amidst tapped parts it's easier for me to string cross by thumb fingering than wibble wibble two fingers.

OK, hmm that's still higher than I wear it. I guess then I wear it low compared to most bassists. But it's not super-low like Novoselic used to do.

Man, now I'm trying to think of where my bass hangs. It's not as high as behnders, but definitely no Novoselic either. I guess it sits somewhere around the crotchal region.
