Totally true on setup/breakdown. If you take a long time it sucks for everyone else. Last nights show was fun, altered seas was a killer band and we hope to get to play another show with them soon. I felt bad man, the band after us was kind meh. the guitarist/singer looked like a huge jack white fan and most of the folks who came out for us left during their set and didn't get to check out the next band they wold have liked. Kinda ticked me off, those guys still were not playing after we had all our gear out of the building and loaded tetris style in the van (not a simple feat!) took nearly an hour to set up and play and then didn't make it seem worth the wait.
I had asked Darren for advice before our first show and he said something to the affect of" set up and tear down fast" GOOD ADVICE, as we play more and more shows I find myself really paying attention to that and noting the bands that kinda screw over the acts that follow them and not wanting to do more shows with those guys.
I've been on bills with bands who have each member responsible for their own gear. Great idea in theory, but that drum kit will make its glorious return to the band van a thousand times faster with all hands on deck.
Somebody else buy that so I'm not tempted!
