Damn, I'll be skipping that. It seems more and more that I dont have as good of a time at larger shows, even The Sword last week I found myself wishing they were'nt so damn popular and there were less people so I could enjoy the music more.

So I've had two moments of divine gear inspiration this week but I'll need a large cash windfall and a time machine (one is an EGC idea) to make them a reality and I wanted to run them by my fellow gear addicts.

1. An EGC Iceman with a clear lucite body with perhaps some beveling to bring the ice back to the Iceman.

2. This is me ripping off a Scott Walker design (he makes crazy, ornate guitars that are just pieces of absurd art). This would be a Warmoth build. I'm thinking a Tele or Jazzmaster body, a fretless neck with fret lines. A Fernandes sustainer pickup in the neck maybe a Filtertron or something interesting in the bridge. The neck might be a baritone or just standard in a baritone tuning and the kicker would be a sitar "buzz" bridge. I'm not really too interested in doing sitar riffs but melodic, ambient drones with a different flavor to them. I'm thinking this and the Space, and my trio of Moog pedals could make some real crazy shit.

Man...that EGC Iceman idea is an amazing idea. I would definitely approve and would love to see the end result man.

Their new album is great, I've been into them since the SFTD days and still haven't seen them.
They deserve to be as big as they are now, to me... one of the only good rock bands around today. They're wicked!

The $150 floor tickets are scalpers price , they were $70 I believe originally.

I got the Grabber replacement yesterday... man, it is the coolest bass ever. Sounds amazing. Got er' for $400, no customs fees, original hard case, gave me some extra money too because I sold the grabber for more then I thought I would!

Jesus, all that stained wood is fucking gorgeous! Guitar included! If I ever have a guitar build or put one together myself, I think it's gonna be natural color. Some kind of stain or oil rub or something. Damn. I almost want to take the paint off all my guitars now...

S-300. Kim Thayil used one for a few songs when I saw Soundgarden live in NOLA pre-King Animal release. I'm a bigger fan of the S-100 personally, but I like this shape for bass.

So I've been listening to this smallish band circa 2007, they're no longer writing because the primary singer/guitarist committed suicide after an irreparable hand injury. It's mellow, yet powerful and heavy at the same time:

The Angelic Process were one of the first Doom-ish bands I'd ever come across. I've been listening to them for years. It's a really sad story.

On a lighter note, though, that guitar is stunning. There is a S100 Polara for sale locally to me—well, the other side of the country, but our country is small. It's brand new and from the 2013 reissue. Apparently it slays. I might wait until more reviews crop up, though, because it doesn't resound very well if a brand new guitar is immediately put up for sale.

Well shit fellas, I believe I been dumped! She'll be over in a few to talk about stuff. She's real nice and there's been no foul play so I'd rather keep her but I suppose I'll survive it just isn't going to happen.

In non multiquoted news, I haven't been playing guitar much recently. A lot of family in town. A lot of preparing for the baby. What guitar I have been playing has been acoustic, and I'm actually learning some old Zepplin that I never bothered to learn. Probably a good thing.

My green Tele, which I named Josephine after my Nana (bought it with inheritance cash) is as much of a fickle bitch as my Nana. Which is kind of awesome. Sometimes it sounds great. Sometimes it sounds really dead and muddy (even unplugged) dunno if that's the Bigsby or the roller bridge. Or maybe it's just a shit piece of wood. Either way it's here forever and I love it

Work has been slow at the new job since the kids are home for the summer. It will pick up at an alarming pace in a couple of weeks when they are back. In the mean time I started writing a book. A really obvious cultural analysis that somehow nobody has written yet. Doing it up in a Chuck Klosterman style collection of essays. Pretty proud of it, but pretty embarrassed to show it to anyone. Maybe I will finish one day it and show it to you guys.

What!?! Did I miss something? When did QOTSA get so popular? I remember their shows when between each song half of the audience would yell out "play some kyuss" and these were half empty clubs. I even spent the first 5 or so years of their existence simply referring to them as "not-Kyuss".

QOTSA have almost sold out the O2 arena in Dublin, along with another major show in Belfast. They are HUGE here. I would have loved to have gone, but the only tickets left are back-row seats, and the O2 is a big arena.

You must see them. I've been a fan since s/t and have seen them four times: SFTD with Lanegan, Lullibies, Era Vulgaris and at the Gorge in '11. I can't wait to see the new lineup...I've got a rip from their recent Wiltern show on constant rotation.

I dunno about Ireland, but I see plenty of people selling brand new stuff on here all the time. Result of unexpected expenses, impulse buys, that sort of thing. Might still be worth a look.

On the other hand, the only thing that's kept me away from S-100s and Polaras and stuff have been the neck heel. I've never been able to comfortably play on them. I sold my Eastwood over it, and avoid LPs like the plague. My Agile has some of that Guild look, but with a reduced neck heel, which is much easier to play around.

Both of these ideas are killer. Normally I'd say go the Iceman, cause I'm nuts for em and I always wanted a lucite one...with a neon light in it. Cause that would be the poon.

Yeah, QOTSA are fucking massive down here. It's ridiculous. They're JJJ darlings and most regular people go fucking bananas for them at festivals. Most of these people don't even know who the fuck Kyuss were. I saw two dumb skanks who clearly worked some shit retail job at a large chain fashion store act like they were the kewelest of the kewel because they were making a big arse deal about doing some coke they had paid way too much for in the "pit" at the Big Day Out first time I saw Queens. It was ridiculous. They didn't even share it around. Rude.
