i don't know enough about basses to benefit from the extras after you get out of thr $2-$3 g range. and it took me forever to set aside the money for my Dinger and is again for a second one. and that was about $2500 new.

i'm not saying someone SHOULDN'T pay that much, just that it would be a waste for me.

Honestly it's not about the bells and whistles or even the fancy shmancy woods and finishes. It's really only the sound I give a shit about. The two basses I've always been obsessed with having are Rics and Wals, because their sound is so noticeable and signature. Just listening to a recording, I can tell it's a Ric, and same with the Wal. That's why I never understood the whole 4G's-for-a-fancy-jazz-clone. A jazz sounds like a jazz sounds like a jazz. What's the extra 3Gs for? I know that people have their reasons, it just doesn't do it for me.

edit:: no offense to anywhere here who has a crazy sadowski jazz or anything like that, it's just not my thing.

Paypal I believe.

My story had nothing to contribute to the shitty bass/refund discussion.

It was just my way of saying I want a Wal :(

EDIT: I realized you weren't asking me that question. Ahh, I'm a tool.

Pun intended.

You know, between that and the EGC stuff that's gone down, I don't think I would ever buy a custom bass or guitar. It just doesn't seem worth the risk to me anymore.

custom is scary. lol. especially because i don't know or really care about what woods do what. i'm spoiled where i just adore the way my bass sounds, and got lucky that the first bass i paid any serious money (at least to me) worked out so well.

i just want another that sounds/feels as close as possible to this'un as i can get.

I would, but it wouldn't be for those insane prices. And I would need to see/play it first hand before they got my money.

Yeah maybe, I think by now we have a decent amount of which dudes to avoid, I bet most custom builds go well and the shit storms get a lot of attention because they are so rare

Sound, Playability/Feel, Look = Value to me. Probably could even switch playability with sound they are so close. I had some sweet as tone with EBMM stuff but the neck radius/size was not right for me and hands got tired quickly and even hurt. On the Dingwall, no issue at all.

So guys. Quick question.

Has anyone ever shipped a bass internationally? I'm thinking of selling mine to a dude in Ireland that randomly hit me up (it's not even for sale right now), but he's offering me enough cash that it'd be worth it. Plus he's offering a direct bank draft as opposed to paypal. So score!

The problem. I've done one bass international before and it was a fucking nightmare because USPS said the damn girth of the box was too much. Ended up having to take the bass apart and ship it in two fucking boxes without the case.

Does anyone else here have experience shipping international?

I have shipped basses to Ireland, Brazil, and maybe Belgium.
If I don't have a case, I custom build a box for the bass (of course covered, COVERED in bubble wrap).
I think length + width + girth has to = >108"

Include insurance in the dudes shipping price.

Donovan shipped his EGC to Haki in Europe, maybe you could ask him?

That's what I thought. He said the girth doesn't matter but it does. I know it does.
