Would it be sacrilegious to buy one of these when it comes out and totally remove the SSS pickup setup and 4 way switches to just throw a single bridge humbucker in there then have pickguardian make a pickguard? Cause that's all I can think about right now.....

Most every Bass VI rocks the vintage 7.25" radius beyond the Pawn Shop which sports the 9.5" but that's kinda the PS's thing, weird specs. These will probably go back to vintage.

Intonation was the only issue I ran across, mainly on the lowest string but I resolved it with the new Staytrem bridge. A full 1" to give the saddles enough travel for proper intonation and you order a preset radius which is cool, one less adjustment to go outta whack and require attention. It's a little pricey but way less than a Mastery

Indeed. I got mine direct on the first trial/proto batch and it was around $110. He put anything that wasn't direct ordered up on eBay fir the same price. Not sure on the status of future batches but it's excellent and well worth it IMO. If you're having intonation issues that is.

There's other less expensive fixes too involving saddles but I just said fuck it and got the bridge.

Gotcha, my only concern is paying 1/3 the price of the guitar just for a bridge when I've had great success with mustang bridges on my offsets in the past. But then again I wasn't detuning them...

Gotcha, my only concern is paying 1/3 the price of the guitar just for a bridge when I've had great success with mustang bridges on my offsets in the past. But then again I wasn't detuning them...

Mustang bridge is nice but intonation can be a little tricky with that 30" Bass VI scale and those big fat strings, detuned no less. You'll just physically run out of saddle travel sometimes as the offset and Mustang bridges are only 0.5" in width. I've seen people get real close on a stock Pawn Shop bridge, almost there but not quite. I hear ya tho, $100+ bridge on a $350 guitar is a big decision. I'm betting these Squires will be built plenty nice but some hardware and electronic upgrades will surely be in order.

I went through the same decision when I got this most recent Jazzmaster as to whether or not splurge on the Mastery or leave the Mustang bridge in since it was doing pretty okay. Ended up getting the Mastery just cause and's held up so far. I probably could have gotten away with just the Mustang bridge but I kept breaking the high E string with it. DOH

I saw the first post and thought this was confirmed to be real.

I am now praying to the Fender gods to make this a real thing.

I'd buy this day 1 if it was $350.

What really throws me about these is that they would put a bound and blocked neck on a Squier model. It's up there with matching headstocks on the list of things Fender doesn't just do.
I really hope this is real.
