I'm driving to Eugene Oregon tomorrow! Anyone wanna suggest something to do when I'm not visiting the university?

My current lady and I had a great discussion last night. We both agreed that neither of us wanted anything serious from this relationship, but we should still keep seeing each other (kinda like a weird relationship placeholder).

This is fantastic because I was feeling all kinds of weird and guilty about this, emotionless physical stuff in a relationship make me feel oddly guilty. So, I get a guilt-free cuddle/make out buddy, confidant, and someone to do stuff with; and she gets someone to keep her guy friends from trying to make a move on her while she tries to figure out what she wants from life. Win/win

As a hard core Oregon State fan you will get no help from me

Watching this video of my roommate's band makes me happy because I really love his band. And, it's his first band (he plays bass), and this video makes it seem like some trv kvlt pvnk show from the 90's.

me too. the folks i came up with were, i guess, pre-punks...just old enough to know ACTUAL OG hippys, but far enough away to see what we found to be the stupidity, weakness, and self-indulgence of the Old Guard and to become utterly cynical about same. we called ourselves "freaks" rather than "hippies," because as the dude in the backseat of the car in the Woodstock film says, "that's what i am to you, to your society." Frank Zappa, and particularly his prose such as the early MOI liner notes and his essay in LIFE magazine c.1968, was also deeply influential on us back in the days when he still attacked hypocrisy and stupidity wherever he found it. we were more "oh, fuck off" than "peace and love, MAAAAAN." we didn't take acid to find God, we took acid because it was interesting.

i really miss those days in certain ways...the feeling of being bulletproof and unstoppable, being able to stay up for two days with no sleep OR stimulant drugs, and to sleep on a hardwood floor and bounce out of the sleeping bag the next morning bright and functional; the ability, as Radiohead says on "Fitter Happier," to laugh at weakness; the belief that what i and my ego wanted were both deeply worthwhile and attainable; and the sheer un-necessity of giving a shit about anything other than what i wanted. i was a huge bastard in those days, but i got things done.

my rationale for taking drugs was that there HAD to be something better than just hanging around the shit suburban milieu i was stuck in. in retrospect, i had a point.
