The masks were/are super lame... and Mr. Bungle did it first/are awesome.
I always enjoyed Iowa as an angry metal album. Never see anyone mention it.

I just went and looked at Iowa, and I had totally forgotten about "People = Shit", that is a good song.

I watched the hardcore dancing video from warped tour. What made it especially great is that I'm listening to a Jazz compilation called "Jazz for a rainy Afternoon."

I still like Slipknot. I saw them a few years ago and they put on a killer show. It was my second or third time seeing them live. I dig the heavy shit like that though, especially when I'm working out.

Yeah when I met the Slipknot dudes; they were out of uniform. Looked like your typical numetal dready dudes. I missed their performance; but caught deftones on the main stage which was unmemroable since it was an afternoon set and the sound sucked on the lawn. Ditto Primus. I did see Fear Factory on the side stage and they were so badass I went to see them a second time when they came to the Boathouse in Norfolk. This was right after Obsolete came out.

I don' think they suck or anything it's just as far as heavy goes they are really predictable for me in that I can start picking out the influences to the songs really easy. I do like some of their lyrical ideas though but as for heavy they just don't stand out much to me.. I've been listening to bands like Sepultura, Napalm Death, Pantera ect since I was 13 they just fall into a big clump with most other Nu-metal bands for me and that's... ok...
everyone I know that likes them go a little cross-eyed when I start playing Blackmetal, Grindcore and Doom/drone bands at them
the abrasiveness keeps them from really liking it or something
who knows

I really like that song a long with Arise.
Then a ton of songs off of Chaos AD; like the entire record and also a few songs on Roots.
What impressed me the most about Roots was how deep and heavy the bass is; especially on songs like Cut Throat.
After a while I kinda moved on from the whole sorta standard metal scene and focused a lot on some of the punk/ska stuff.
Then I heard Chaosphere by Meshuggah; for the first time ever; while frying on acid; on a really loud and good stereo, and was WTF have I been missing.
EDIT: Oh and Candiria to; which got me back into listening to more aggressive stuffs. Then I met a chick who was into Phish. Complete 180 but I really started enjoying that whole scene. Part of it is because people hate Phish so much and I like things that people hate.

Yeah! I love all three of those albums still, with Chaos though my faves are the two songs they did not write [Biotech is Godzilla and The hunt] Roots I love the sonic landscape [SO MUCH NOISE] but for the bassyness their version of War [didn't make it to the album, was a B side or something] is just killer. But yeah I moved on a bit and really only play old metal stuff at work because people complain less about it then when I play oddball stuff and ICM and jazz
