I really like my dyna comp, using it with the big muff for extra extra extra compression is nice. For clean solos it is nice as well. Also for swells or "organ" parts it is great, with my delay and phaser. I am looking for one more pedal, but not sure. Perhaps a delay.Chankgeez wrote:How you like that Dyna Comp?Jaray9 wrote:

Thanks, I'm looking into getting into compressors. Still unsure how I feel about 'em, but I play a lot of slide.Jaray9 wrote: I really like my dyna comp, using it with the big muff for extra extra extra compression is nice. Dyna Comp seems to be one of the compressors of choice of classic rock sliders of the Lowell George school.
Yeah, you should get a nice analog delay to go with that Flashback.

i dug my dyna comp when i had it, but for some reason couldn't find that middle ground between major squash and subtle.Chankgeez wrote:Thanks, I'm looking into getting into compressors. while probably more expensive than you'd be looking for, friend of mine swears by the keeley 4 knob compressor. unfortunately never tried it myself though

Re: Let's see your PEDAL BOARD!
Thanks, Casavettes, I've actually never played a Dyna Comp. Never played a Keeley either. Not sure I really want a Ross/Dyna Comp clone, but I'm kinda interested in the Barber Tone Press. Intrigued by the parallel compression. May make it a little more useable. I kinda like both major squash and pretty subtle depending on how I'm feeling. Also kinda on the fence as to whether I want a cheap compressor or something a little fancier. I like this demo, but probably mostly because I like this guy's playing:Casavettes wrote: i dug my dyna comp when i had it, but for some reason couldn't find that middle ground between major squash and subtle.

Basically, I like my dyna comp if I am getting a nice, "perfect", clean solo tone à la David Gilmour. Add delay and some modulation and I like it very much.

Wow that video was great, more like speaking with the instrument than playing it at that point.Chankgeez wrote:Thanks, Casavettes, I've actually never played a Dyna Comp. I always looked at compressors as less of an effect and more of a tool that has a very specific job, so without any facts to back this up I assume the more expensive a compressor is the better? Hopefully this all makes sense
Which reminds me, really curious to hear EQD's warden

I really like that dude's playing and his mobilé. The compressor not so much.

Yep... nice playing.
There's not much difference comp off or on, but I prefer off.

Yep, pretty much agree with you guys. He's got it set to heavy compression towards the end. Still unsure if I really even like compression.

I dislike the "pat-pat-pat" sound you get from playing through heavy compression...but that dude's playing IS awesome.

It is one of those things that is just really hard to know. Sometimes compression is a wonderful thing, other times ehh. It is a very specific tool. I don't know how I feel about it. I can't really every see myself using a comp pedal anytime soon, but who knows what the future holds.Chankgeez wrote:Still unsure if I really even like compression.
One of my life-goals is to own a really expensive gretsch - maybe then I would pick up a nice comp pedal.

Yeah, old Gretsch and a compressor seems like it'd be a nice combination.fungalattack wrote:It is one of those things that is just really hard to know. Well, Juan loves his CS-2 and when it comes to effects his opinion can't be taken lightly.
