I would think that being the age that they are that most of the speakers would be blown and in need of being replaced.
I would also think it would sound rather boxy, but I dunno. I don't really have any way of knowing other than the 8" speaker in my Valve Junior which sounds boxy

I've been jonesing after a JCM800 Bass Series. There's one for sale here in Ireland. It has a Marshall 4x12 with it, too.

just do it. I am in love with my marshall rig both my Jackson and Les Paul pair very nicely.

I'll have to sell so much stuff if I do go for it. Any idea how good the cabs are? I don't think I've ever actually tried a Marshall cabinet before, believe it or not.

it had volume issues with it though, decided to part with it. Sounded great other then that.

It was MINT man, absolutely nothing wrong with it cosmetically.
I wish I stuck it out and got it looked at, I was playing alot of shows at the time so I didn't really have time or patience, so I decided to part with it. I had it for a week or two, haha.
Paid $700 for the pair, sold it for $1400 if I remember correctly.

The cabs are solid enough to tour and gig with and the stock speakers are not limited when it comes to what you wanna do with your tone.

Jesus Christ! I got my head for $400 and it had just been perfectly serviced and the cab for $100, but I wouldn't sell them. I've played other V4s and mine is THE one.

theyre PA cabs from the 80s? maybe 70s? they have mount holes in the tops of them for the horns.

dude said they were unloaded and "beat to fuck" so I offered 130$ over the phone for the empty "beat to shit" cabs sight unseen. I got there and he showed me those in pretty good shape except the grills have to have pennies in there so they stay shut and they were loaded. I asked him where are the ones im buying cause those are in good shape and loaded. he said thats them 130$ my man get them the fuck outta here. dude has his hand all wrapped up like he just had surgery and had basses and shit all over the place so maybe he was quitting? downsizing?

130$ for the pair of cabs. got them home and only like 3 outta the 8 speakers were good so in went 6 16 ohms swamp thangs and 2 16 ohm sunn speakers (the silver cones at the top) they sound godly.

They definitely are keepers! that's great that you found the one for you! I feel that way about my current head.
There was some serious volume issues with my V4 though, thought it was easier to just part with it.

I'm really into the idea of a V4 2X15... there's a few for sale in my area...
