You have peaked my interest highly in those movies. I have heard about buio omega. It is the name of an Impetigo EP which are grandfathers of grind who absolutely love italian horror/gore. Ok i am putting them on my list and will watch them this weekend.

I'm sure You can appreciate these, D'amato makes bizarre gore horror, and Bava is a strong Argentoesque giallo. :thumb:

have you seen anthrophagous? it is another d'amato flick, so is porno holocaust. And I recently watched porno holocaust because it combines porn and gore but it turned out to be very very minimal gore and just a really bad porno.

   YOU ACTUALLY WATCHED IT? From the title to the credits?   Crazy son of a bee, I couldn't, it was plain too BAD and way too boring for me. It could have been outrageously repulsive (s)exploitation but it's one of those D'amato movies. Most of his movies seem to be. :picard:

D'amato directed also Erotic Nights of the Living Dead (Le notti erotiche dei morti viventi 1980) which is supposed to be a lot better: a slow soft core erotic movie in the 70's best style with good music to go with that. You know, people having casual sex, travelling leisurery and having more casual sex, chatting and having sex. Just not quite as good as many other of the genre. The main point is to see Laura Gemser shaking her stuff and the very simple plot key points are presented along the way. And then there's some gore and zombies towards the end. According to what I've heard and read. I'd really like to see this.

And... Anthropophagus... is the golden D'amato film, his main claim for the fame.
NSFW: show
D'amato crossed the line of good taste and decency in the movie rating boards' opinion when his cannibal murderer bited into a fetus he dug out from the very unluckily pregnant mother. Yep, this is those unredemable 80's OG video nasties.

...but It ISN'T however the goriest piece seen on the screen. But compared to - say - teen slasher movies, where a seemingly invinsible murderer lays to waste everybody on the screen one by one... it's simply much darker and more nihilistic.

The movie could have been better, though, with a better production budget and ...just a few more work days thinking over the details of the plot. The first murders are tacky, filmed apparently without ANY budget at all. :erm:  and I suppose it was done afterwards when all money was already spent and the sense of drama demanded a murder after the titles. When the movies get's going it does get better. And eventually, after all the cheap nasty thrills, I find the undertone and the gory finalé untypically ...poetic to D'amato. As if he had called in the last minute to a fellow director that actually has talent, not only guts (pun intended).

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand here You go:

IMHO it isn't somehow half as good/nasty/offensive as Buio Omega... but maybe I just bond more with necro stuff than with the cannibalism. And Goblin. :thumb: Anthropophagus still was entertaining enough to keep me from FFWD button. Both times I watched it. Unlike the absolutely indifferent and pretentious remake. :whateva: :vomit: ;picard:

No i did not watch porno holocaust from beginning to end that would be too sketchy. I hit the fast forward button throughout to see if there would be some gore besides lame porn scenes. But I will check out macabre and buio omega because I have been gravitating towards independent flicks and I need to get back into the grove of kvlt italian sheeeit!

Sometime I feel bored by it but other times I am completely captivated by its eerie charm.

I just watched buio omega finally and wow it delivered. The plot was paper thin but I didn't watch it for the plot I watched it for the goblins and the gore. It did delve into some themes of incest and necrophilia which to put it bluntly was pretty cool. I am going to watch macabre and keep the Italian theme rolling right along! Necrobump complete!
