Serious talk though,...the wife is taking an intro archery class today and I'm very jeally that I couldn't attend with her. The class was filled up but I told to try to get me on for next week's intro class. I'm liking the idea of recurve bows instead of compound bows. Something about the simplicity of recurves.

This could turn into a hobby that the two of us can share (since we really have no common interests other than rumpy pumpy) and beyond that,...seems like archery would be a good skill to have for the upcoming zombie apocalypse.

Thinking about bowhunting in the event that we can no longer source protein from the grocery store (not that I'm paranoid).

Um No,...

That movie is just in theatres right? I'm so not hip to movies since most of them suck these days. Had no idea that archery was a plot device in that movie (nor do I know what it's even about).

We've been sorta planning for interesting times,...stockpiling emergency supplies and that sort of shit,...better safe than sorry type of attitude.

Archery just seems like a logical skill to have is shit does start breaking down. While I do I think there is a lot of irrational paranoia over that,...I'd like to still be able to feed my family. If we are going to survive if this modern world is no longer sustainable; we will have to revert to a more of a hunter gatherer society. It is also seemingly a lost art. I like lost arts.

Beyond that there is just something sexy and graceful about archery. The sounds,...the motions,...that Danish chick,...etc etc.

On topic, don't get the cheap-ass compound bows at Wal-Mart. I don't remember anything about the brand/model, but I had one and it literally snapped in half and whacked my friend in the face. Hilarious/painful/scary moment.

I'm looking at mainly recurve bows. And yeah,...will be avoiding Wal-Mart as with most things.

I'm going to get into these introductory courses before I make any solid decisions.

Something tells me that recurve is a little different than compound but I'd prefer something with as few moving parts as possible. As musicians I'm sure most people would agree with me that we have enough shit to maintain (Amps,...Guitars,...Effects).

I have sort of an arm fetish,...I think that has a lot to do with it. Danish chick's got some sexy arms.

I'll be focusing on my wife's glorious handfuls when we hit up the range together.

This is a legit interest though.

I'm sure I'm coming off as a paranoid survivalist,...but at the moment my interest in this as a hobby is piqued. I can't wait to talk to the wife further when she get's back from the course.

Archery is fun. Its been a while, but I was pretty good (used a recurve). Never hunted with one though. You can actually modify a slingshot to shoot arrows (and still sling bb's) effectively enough to kill hogs and small deer. I use a sling shot a couple times a week, tbh.

I've actually gone out the past 3 days seeing what's available to eat/hunt in the nearby "wilderness"...coincedence?
