I liked it Yes the reveal is stupid/silly/clumsy...but the way it was shot was beautiful. Reminded me a bit of HoL in the way that it takes something you a normally comfortable with (walking through a doorway in your own house) and sorta flipping it.
I also liked the moment I realized why she was hiding in all of those stupid places...those were the places a child would have hidden in. I noticed it pretty early on but even towards the end there were many people in the theater screaming "RUN YOU DUMB BITCH WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!?!"
My theory is that she was in hell...notice her wrists, which mysteriously got cut somewhere...really bad. When they show the wound it looks life threatening, yet it only gets a quick mention gets glossed over (though the bandage is displayed prominently for the rest of the film). I'm guessing she killed her father/uncle then herself. Explains all the weird stuff she sees and how all the doors were locked/boarded up/why she could never get far off the property. Also why people would seemingly be dead for half the movie only to come back to life.
Yes it's a bit of a cop out, but it does give them some wiggle room for why the reveal happened like it did...it's very much like a dream state. Stupid shit like the last section of the film has happened in my own dreams so I didn't find it too far-fetched if we're going with the dreamstate/hell angle .
