It is just you. Its "overly sanitized" for everyones protection, because its not neccesary at all to have the term used freely here.
I wont lie though: me and my friends use it all the time. Not in a hateful way or ghetto white boy way, but moreas a mockery towards those kind of people.
Fact of the matter is, there are ways, in person, to use it acceptably. On the internet, in plain and bold print, where you cant visually see how the persons using it, its just not appropriate.

well, here's the thing: obviously, Tom has the right to run things however he wants. my personal belief, about the world in general as well as about forums, is that one of the things that's screwing everything up is that people believe they have the right not to be offended and therefore they can restrict the rest of the world to fit their straitened moral framework. sometimes it's a religious framework, sometimes it's a political ideology, and sometimes it's the secular libertinism of European post-modernism. but it always ends up being a reductive bummer, and i think that tendency should be discouraged. i would rather have to deal with being trolled than have an environment in which things were overly sanitized for my protection. but, of course, that's just me.

But the point is this is the least sanitized gear forum on the net. A simple request that we be sensitive to racial, cultural, gender differences and sexual orientations is all that the Tom is asking. You may see that as a slippery slope,...but I see it more as a dry platform. It's not too much to ask.

It's not about your protection,...it's about fostering respect and tolerance for all walks of life that frequent this board (like it or not there is some diversity on ILF). I'm not saying that everyone on ILF IS respectful,...but imagine if we were given free reign and there was no moderation. This place would be a free for all. Dare I say that the age comments are a low blow and can be offensive as well,....but Tom hasn't expressed that we refrain from that and seriously,....Age to Race is apples and oranges comparison. In fact,...more has been done to further the age mongers agenda then has been done to further the black agenda (thanks modern medicine,....if I had my way all you old people would be fossil fuel fodder, let's think about our future here,...what are our grandchildren gonna do when all the oil runs out [<--satire]).

I'd love to be able to tell everyone who is offended by words to open their eyes and realize that there are way more offensive things happening in our society,..but that is just not how the world works.
