no. it's about protecting ONLY specific groups of people from being offended--not "antagonized'--based on their protected status. that is PC, no matter how strenuously your ideology demands that you deny the plain and obvious truth of the matter, and that's unfair and wrong. either protect everyone, or have a fair playing field for everyone.

No, they don't. The mods have said that it violates rule #1. I don't know where you are getting the idea that you have some rights other than what the owner of the board has said that you have. Roseweave used to make this exact same argument. She used to think that the first amendment somehow applied to privately owned message boards.

people seem to be obsessed with the idea that by defending the right to expression i must therefore intend to use such expression myself, which is silly; defending, e.g., the right to make porn doesn't imply the intent to act in porn and defending the right to abortion doesn't entail the intent to use that right personally, especially for a male.

my point regarding (oh, brother) "the 'n' word": in the 21st century, this word is a colloquialism ("slang word") used in many aspects of informal culture despite the reaction it evokes from the intellectual and media class. it's used in deuces-wild fashion in black culture, is in common usage as a synonym for "friend," "bro," or "homie" in Mexican culture in California (i don't know much about Hispanics in the rest of the US), is not uncommon even outside of hip-hop fans among young whites in a similar fashion to Hispanic usage, and is so common in parts of popular culture, especially rap and other black music that's crossed over to the white market, that it's not surprising it's become common in the same way many black speech patterns got adopted by white youth culture. to try to eliminate that word in all its cultural manifestations is goofy. should it be banned as a slur? ABSOLUTELY. should it be eliminated from the joke usage "n***a, please'? i don't think so...that's a usage that's become so mainstreamed as a black-accepted usage that IMO it's OK unless it's uttered by someone with clearly hateful intent.
