Didn't know that, but it's still pretty good that they did eventually accept her, hopefully it changes their policies from now on. Also it's good that there was public pressure to do it.
And, you know, I'm not saying that they shouldn't let transgendered peeps into the Girl Scouts. In fact, I haven't given the actual issue much philosophical thought at all, since I'm not interested in joining the Girl Scouts, don't have any daughters, and generally don't cross paths with them on a regular basis.
I have general reservations about public shaming, though I also think this is A) an underwhelming situation that is being exploited for larger talking points, and B) I don't see anything wrong with a trans joining the Girl Scouts if that's what she wants to do. The whole "keep girls safe" bit is fearmongering at it's most base.
