Shit. Sorry to hear about this.

I've never seen them live either, hopefully this means I still have a chance.

I don't think this will be the end but, I think that one of them (probably Kim) will leave.

Sonic Youth were/are one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen. Totally mindblowing, and the first band that got me into making strange noises with tons of pedals. This sucks.

On the other hand, I haven't had a chance to reference this song in forever...

The end of Sonic Youth? More like the beginning of Sonic Old :picard:

But this seriously sucks, I can't for the life of me think of a band that has been able to keep putting out new and amazing things after close to 30 yrs. I feel very fortunate for having seen them live.

Wait, why am I just now seeing this thread?! Sonic Youth with Stereolab opening was one of the best shows I've ever seen. And I turned into an old fart, spending many years listening to their music. I touched Thurston's shoe, and strummed his geet. Too bad about T &K splitting. Didn't read the article. Probably won't,as it's too depressing. Wonder what happened?

Yeah, things were never quite the same after that threesome with Jim O'Rourke.

I'm surprised nobody's pointed out the most important part of this: Kim Gordon is single.

This would have been great news 30 years ago.
Hell, even 15 years ago.
Now... not so much.
