Should you be kicking yourself? Yes and No, I feel like the build quality on those is very hit or miss. Some last a long time and others seem to break down. I had one and thought it was a lot of fun but was always worried that it wouldn't turn on the next time I used it. Plus the keys have a tendency to fall off pretty easy in my experience. That said $875 is a decent priceHowsyrface wrote:there was a mint OP-1 w/some add-ons on Reverb last night for $875 but I couldn't pull the trigger as the seller had no reviews or history. Obviously, it's gone now, but how leery are you of buying things from people with no reviews? Should i be kicking myself? I certainly don't see myself ever paying $1299 for one.

I don't have any experience with PSSL, but randomly saw this killer price ($210) on a new Roland SH-01a:

That is an excellent price, and those synths look very cool imospacelordmother wrote:I don't have any experience with PSSL, but randomly saw this killer price ($210) on a new Roland SH-01a:

I know this exact Peavey model. A customer of the music shop I used to work in (closed in 2018 due to health reasons) had one of these units. Apart from heavily crackling potentiometers it still worked like new. And after a treatment with tuner spray the noise of the potentiometers was gone. The reverb was okay-ish.

Played one a few years ago at SwitchedOn when I was in Austin for work. Have to say that it was the most fun synth I played there, even though they had lots of other "top-shelf" stuff.

Huh. The demos I have heard of the Roland, in both modern and OG versions, have always left me at “meh.” Seemed pretty limited for a pretty narrow zone of vintage electro sound. What am I missing?

I'm not a tone chaser, and could honestly not name a single song that I know for a fact is the 101. It's a lot more simple than most synths I am into, and I also don't find much use for analog sounds, but it was just fun to play.Gone Fission wrote:Huh.
