Jags look absolutely fucking rad and all the switches make for some very kinky bass wiring options. I'm definitely going to be going the parts route for my next 4-banger, but the only decision is J or Jag body. Either way there's gonna be splittable pickups and switches. SO. MANY. SWITCHES.

I'm glad Fender has finally pulled their heads out of their asses with pricing. $1800 for a fucking P bass was ridiculous; granted I know this was all just a way for them to start selling direct to the customers and skirt GC, MF, SA, etc, but it's nice to see their prices come back into orbit. It'll make buying used parts with that money-printing F logo so much easier.

What are your thoughts on the Fender Powercaster?

No kidding, I was thinking of slapping together a short-scale guitar with p90 neck pickup but got sidelined ... I think the specs/looks of this are great ...

Would play. Especially if there's a pull pot to split the 'bucker. My favorite guitar lately has been my Fallout, and it's set up just like that.

I'd like it better with a different bridge so there wasn't a mismatch.

You mean radius mismatch?

the g&l fallout is such an amazing shape, great value, the one i played was super lightweight too. i can't be friends with the necks tho!

Hah, what don't you like about the neck? I lucked into that Fallout. Was not looking for a new guitar at all, but had wanted to try one of them for a long time, and happened on that one at a nice price. All of my guitars have different necks so I'm just kind of used to a variety. Hands down my favorite is the one on my unknown telecaster though. I need to get it digitally scanned and have someone make copies

iirc, they're just kinda wide and flat with big frets. I like those tiny necks they put on gibsons in the late 60s

Yeah, it be psychosomatic but I feel like I can tell a small difference.

I'd probably go with a G&L Tribute Fallout because they're cheaper anyway and I'd rather have a maple fretboard than diarrhea-orange pau ferro.

I've been meaning to post this over here. I actually really dig it and would be totally down to try one. Maybe that's just because I'm primarily a bass player :idk:

gonna pull my thoughts on the sixtysix from osg

I keep seeing this touted as "what iff a jazz bass was a 6-string spanish instead?" but really it's just a hss strat with a wonky bod.

a fender jazz guitar (that isn't yet a master... jazz student? jazz apprentice? jazz noob?) for me would have
-jazz-style body shape and hardware (pickguard, chrome plate)
- TWO pickups and no more, like two tele neck pickups or somethinga
-hardtail bridge. offset vibrato would be nice for how i play but JAZZ BASS AIN'T GOT NO VIBRATO, SON

on paper, I'm sort of into the sixty-six as-is, but I don't like modern fender necks much and it seems everything other than MIJ and MIA stuff tends towards being overly heavy. if someone started making repro bodies in the same style i'd rock one on a parts guitar

Meh, I don't really care what they're touting it as. I look at that thing and I want to down tune it and layer on the fuzz
